South Bend Police responded to the report of a dog running in the area of Chippewa Bowl with a zip tie around his snout. Prior to our arrival, several good Samaritans stopped to try to catch the dog, but were unsuccessful. South Bend Police Officer Stephanie Northcutt was among our officers who responded and was able to build enough trust with the dog to safely catch him and take him out of harm's way. On February 4, 2024, deputies and other first responders were called to help a dog that fell through the ice on a pond just outside Lincoln, Nebraska. This is body camera footage showing Deputy John Brady falling through the ice himself before bringing the dog back to safety. Winona Lake Police officers encountered difficulty in persuading a dog to come out of a frozen lake after it had dashed onto the icy surface. Footage captured by the police department depicts officers attempting to retrieve the dog, which initially showed reluctance to depart from the ice. Ultimately, the canine was successfully rescued from the lake and transferred to a nearby animal welfare organization for a reunion with its owner, as stated in a police update.
