Adventurous bears get their own swan boat to explore
A boat, for bears? 📸🦢
With all the recent heavy rain, the Carnivore keeper team have come up with a fantastic addition to the new ‘lake’ which has formed at the bottom of the North American black bears’ 13-acre enclosure – their very own swan boat! ✨
After thoroughly cleaning and checking over to ensure the boat could safely be placed in the bears’ enclosure, keepers spread some tasty honey and monkey nuts inside to entice the 11 bears to investigate 🐻
Keepers and visitors alike were delighted when the bears actually climbed onto the boat to reach their food. They could be spotted climbing all over, playing with and sniffing the boat with great curiosity.
In the wild, black bears are opportunistic feeders, foraging for food in a variety of places – using their excellent sense of smell and long tongues to seek out fruit, plants, nuts, fish, insects and more. It’s no wonder then that the bears could easily smell and investigate the unfamiliar boat to find plenty of food the keepers had hidden within it ✨
Take a ride on a Swan Boat for free in the Foot Safari area - included in your ticket price! 🦢

Rescue video shows a police dog jumping off a bridge and being saved with his leash
K-9 DEPUTY LAUREN DONALDSON’S FAST ACTIONS SAVES K-9 “ZEPPELIN’S” LIFE AFTER HE UNEXPECTEDLY JUMPS OFF 528 CAUSEWAY!!
Recently while returning to her vehicle following a critical incident that resulted in a very fluid scene and felony arrest on top of the 528 Causeway, K-9 Deputy Lauren Donaldson got the scare of her life when her partner, K-9 “Zeppelin,” decided to leap over the bridge’s guard rail and off the bridge that is approximately 75 feet above the surface of the water!!
As you will see in the video, “Zeppelin” was walking on lead coming back from the area of the arrest and without warning, decided to jump over the rail!! Thankfully, Lauren responded quickly to “Zeppelin’s” actions by tightly holding on to his lead, immediately bracing her feet against the railing, and then somehow, reaching over the guard rail and pulling “Zeppelin” back onto the bridge!! Lauren’s rescue of her beloved partner is even more amazing when you consider that “Zeppelin,” a Belgian Malinois weighs approximately 75 pounds and Lauren weighs 122 pounds when she is soaking wet and holding a bowling ball, yet somehow she managed to not panic and pull “Zeppelin” back to safety!! Without Lauren’s fast action there is no question that “Zeppelin” would have fallen approximately 75 feet into the Indian River and most likely to his death!!
Lauren and “Zeppelin” are two time reigning champions in the “Hardest Hitting K-9” category of the Space Coast K-9 Competition and I could not be more proud of Lauren for all she does as a member of our team and to protect our community!! I’m still mad at “Zeppelin” for giving us all a huge scare, but am so grateful that he is okay and unharmed!!

Incredible footage shows majestic huge moose in Wyoming
I am probably 50 yards away from the moose. All of the other photographers were also 50-100 yards away to start, and the moose decided to walk in our direction. Everyone was incredibly respectful of his space and stayed relatively in place in order to not spook him. As Wyoming residents, we always respect the wildlife

Police Officer Climbs on Dumpster to Rescue Woman Trapped on Balcony
HEROISM AWARD!
Yesterday, Officers Marcolini, Officer Manzanedo, and Officer Silva from were acknowledged by the Clark County Fire Department for their quick actions to save a woman from a fire. They received a heroism award!
Back in December, these officers were finishing their shift when they saw thick, black smoke nearby. They immediately went to the area near Reno and Tamarus and saw the flames shooting from a second-floor apartment.
As the body camera video shows, moments later, they saw an older woman just feet from the flames. She was trapped on the second floor with no way down.
Officers grabbed a dumpster and pushed it over to the woman. One of the officers climbed onto the dumpster as small explosions and breaking glass could be heard from the intense heat. The officers were able to help the woman down to safety.
She received medical attention and the officers were unharmed.
We are beyond proud of these officers for their quick thinking and even faster action to work as a team and save this woman.

Firefighters rescue horse from ditch
Nala, a 10-year-old horse had lost her footing and fallen into a trench. After trying to get her out without success, a 911 call came into our emergency command center. A Large Animal Rescue call was dispatched which included our technical rescue teams and a helicopter. Thanks to specialized training and experience, firefighters worked with a veterinarian on the scene to sedate the horse and provide for rescue. The crews faced tight access which made it a challenging rescue for our technical rescue firefighters - requiring multiple plans. Firefighters were able to free Nala to the cheers of everyone watching. The veterinarian staff checked her out and confirmed she was ok. We’re glad we could be of service and ecstatic that Nala is doing great!
