There's two adorable feral cats who hang out at the 7-11 by my house. I always try to remember to keep some food and water on me in case I run into strays. We have a humungous stray/feral cat overpopulation issue here in Central Florida. This is mostly due to our warm climate, the abundance of unspoiled rural land and lack of community resources. As a result our overpopulation problems are much worse than other counties of comparable size. I finally got video of one of the 7-11 cats. Unfortunately the other one wasn't around that night but they're usually an inseparable pair. I call them Romulus and Remus. For anyone asking, he is already fixed as some awesome person already grabbed these cats and conducted a TNR. You can see his ear has been docked to signify as much. Please spay and neuter your pets. I was at the TGT Poker Room in Tampa, FL. After winning $300 (and then losing $600), it was time to call it a night. So I decided to dump a bunch of dry food, treats and a cup of water for the strays at the Tampa poker room. The adorable feeding frenzy that follows is worth watching. The momma cat (Meagan aka Meagatron) was a pregnant stray I discovered eating on my stray feeding camera. We immediately sprung into action and trapped her before her babies were born and lined up a rescue. A month later, Meagatron gave birth to 2 snow white cats and a tabby that resembled her (but missing a tail). Afterwards, another person reached out to our foster to ask if she could care for 2 orphaned kittens who were left without a mom. Meagatron took them in without hesitation as if they were her own children. Here's a snippet of her biological children and her step children getting along, bonding and playing. They'll all have a long, healthy and wonderful life full of love. Please spay and neuter your pets. A cat absolutely knows it's name. Here is proof. My main rescue cat Louie was sleeping on my desk next to me. And I said his name, and noticed his tail wagged when he was TOTALLY asleep. So I said it again, and he wagged his tail again. So I got my phone and this was what I managed to capture. This is Meagan (aka Meagatron). She's a pregnant stray cat that I discovered one night eating at my stray cat feeding station. It's peak kitten season so finding a rescue or a foster who wasn't full was impossible. But thanks to the people from "A Kitten Place" in Brandon, FL...we were able to line up a foster mom for Meagan. After a month, Meagan gave birth. The first kitten sadly didn't make it. But the other two were perfectly healthy (except for one missing his tail). But then something remarkable happened. Someone discovered to stray kittens whose mom passed away, so our rescued decided to see if Meagan would take them in. And she did. She now treats the two orphaned kittens as her own. There isn't enough I can do to repay the folks at "A Kitten Place" In Brandon, Florida. When everyone was past capacity, when everyone was out of room (including A Kitten Place) they still did what so many other organizations didn't. They reached out, made a few extra phone calls, and managed to find an amazing foster mom to help us out. Cassidy will now give birth to her kittens in a healthy, indoor environment. She AND her kittens will be fixed, vaxed and given whatever care is needed. Sky, the foster mom, is a sweet and wonderful caregiver. With the stray cat population soaring (particularly in Florida), this small effort will ensure that Cassidy's kittens will be born healthy, more of them will survive, and they'll all be spayed/neutered and adopted. Cassidy will also be spayed when it's safe to do so. (a young 1 year old cat) wont have a dozen other litters of strays. A little teamwork goes a long way. We finally caught our pregnant stray cat Cassidy. It took a few attempts. And she wasn't thrilled about her new arrangements at first. But as a young, pregnant stray who is friendly to humans, she doesn't need to be out in the streets. Fun fact, we caught her just as a 3 day long thunderstorm broke out. Very much like how we found Clarence. It rained for days once the drizzle started as I desperately tried to trap her. After trapping her, I made sure to make the transition as quick and painless as possible. Our foster mom was on call, and received a text as soon as the trap locked her in. I had her at the foster within 25 mins of the time of trapping. Cassidy wasn't thrilled at first, but she adjusted quickly. The thunder and lightning intensified as I drove, proving that we were very close to screwing up the opportunity. The planets were in alignment and we pulled it off. Cassidy has been starting to bond with me and be friendlier. I'm shocked at how nice she is so quickly. As you will see on her journey later, she seems eager to surrender to anyone who would help care for her. Being a pregnant stray cat is hard enough, but doing so in the blazing heat of the Florida summer is a task all itself. This was the first time she was headbutting me and leaning into me petting her. I'm so glad we were able to get this #pregnant #feral #stray #cat off the streets. Her #kittens will be better off. The #environment will be better off, as countless generations of unborn kittens will begat more unborn kittens, creating an even larger #carbonfootprint. And so many families will have a wonderful new pet. This is Cassidy. I am not good at identifying cat gender from afar, so I always give my cats gender neutral names, This is a cute kitty that has been coming around to my outdoor feeding area for awhile now. Well it turns out we got a "she". And SHE is VERY pregnant. So I'm trying to trap her, so I can get her to A Kitten Place or King's Cove Rescue in Florida. But she's still skittish. But this is the first time I got her to at least be cool with me and approach me. As you can see, I tried to stay VERY mellow. I want to win her over so we can get her babies delivered, neuter everyone, ween them properly and then either re-release her to my neighborhood. A SECOND Cat Arrives At My Stray Cat Feeding Station #shorts So you might remember "Cassidy". He's a little feral cat dude in my neighborhood that I feed occasionally. He was the first to discover my feral/stray cat shelter that I made that has a tent, food and water. It can cool cats off on those hot Florida days, or keep them dry on those typical rainy days.
