Up for Debate: Weaponization of FBI/DOJ #shorts
#washingtonexaminer #gop #elections
Republican 2024 candidates have almost unilaterally used the term “weaponized” to describe the Department of Justice during this election cycle.
They have taken aim at the DOJ's five-year investigation into President Joe Biden's son Hunter Biden, which nearly resulted in a "sweetheart" plea deal, as many Republicans have described, before the judge in the case deferred it out of concerns about its unusual provisions.

Up for debate: Education #shorts
#washingtonexaminer #gop #elections
Once an afterthought for Republicans, education is playing a major role in the 2024 presidential election as the parental rights movement that began in the wake of the 2020 school closures has pushed the issue to the forefront of Republican politics.
Unlike other issues such as the Ukraine war and abortion, the Republican primary field is largely unified in what education policies the candidates wish to enact. The field's holy grail is universal school choice, which would allow students to use taxpayer funds to pay for nonpublic education. A commitment to uphold parental rights has also emerged as a campaign trail talking point.

Talking turkey: Retailers carve out plans to keep theft down on Black Friday
Retailers across the country are upping their security game, working with local law enforcement officials, adding in-store cameras, and taking other measures ahead of Black Friday so that the unofficial start of the holiday shoppingseason doesn't put their businesses in the red.
Major retailers such as Target, Walgreens, CVS, and Sephora have already started to remove high-value items like perfume from store shelves and replace them with tester samples to keep people with sticky fingers away. Others have turned to self-serving locking cabinets, tetheringitems to steel cables, and smart shopping carts that have sensors like cameras, weight scales, and bar code scanners that allow them to detect the items customers are picking and paying for and which ones they are not.

WEX MIN: Zelensky annoyed with Israel? NYC mayor under investigation, Emperor's new gender #shorts
#washingtonexaminer #wexmin #romanempire #zelensky #israel #americanaid #NYC #ericadams
Ukraine is looking at a stalemate 20 months into the war with Russia. Zelensky says American aid and the world's focus going to Israel is not helping him.
New Yorkers are withdrawing their support for Mayor Eric Adams as federal authorities investigate whether his 2021 campaign masked large funds from the Turkish government by funneling them through straw donors.
Has your man thought about the Roman empire today? A woke museum in the United Kingdom is now reclassifying a third-century Roman emperor as a transgender woman. With a full switch to she/her pronouns. The gender proclamation comes in the wake of classical texts appearing to mention the emperor's request to be called by female titles quote "[Call] me not Lord, for I am a Lady.”

Egg producers and two trade groups inflated prices for years, federal jury finds
Three major food companies overpaid for eggs for years because the country's top producers as well as two trade groups engaged in a scheme to restrict supply and inflate costs, an Illinois federal jury found on Tuesday.
The decision capped a five-week antitrust trial against Cal-Maine Foods Inc., Rose Acre Farms Inc., and two egg-industry trade groups, United Egg Producers and United States Egg Marketers. The verdict is a huge victory for the plaintiffs, General Mills Inc, Kellogg Co., and Nestle SA, Bloomberg Law first reported.
