Welcome! I help take the chaos out of homeschooling so parents can actually enjoy life with their families. How do you organize your homeschool schedule? Please comment below.
If you feel overwhelmed, frustrated, cranky, and find difficult to manage your day, try hacking your schedule with time blocking. Time blocking should allow you to eliminate "multi-tasking" which slows you down and make you less productive.
I use iCal to time block because it is already on my phone and it's free, but there are other programs that can help out also.
Fun fact: Benjamin Franklin, Bill Gates, and Jack Dorsey are just 3 famous people who use time blocking to manage their schedules.

First, let me say that you may not need all of the things I used in our small classroom setup, but I have linked everything in the setup guide just in case you wanted a specific link. Many successful homeschoolers spend under $50 a year on their classroom setup. Remember, you do what works best for your family.
A few things to add...1-Don't feel pressure to make an over-the-top classroom. 2-After the initial investment, you don’t incur the same expenses year over year. 3-There is no rule that says you need everything at once, either. You may even want to begin the school year and decide if a classroom is right for you.
I like to use the school supplies to “decorate” the classroom, so I put the craft sticks, art supplies, crayons, brushes, pencils, etc. into apothecary jars and put them on display. I can see what’s in the containers and it is just adorable. I don’t have a link for those because I purchased them at Hobby Lobby. Wait for a sale, though. There’s always a holiday around the corner...The smaller jars ran about $1.50 each and some of the larger ones ran about $10 each.
The storage bins house all the workbooks, construction papers, play dough, extra composition books, paper, etc.
The book bins came from the Dollar Tree.
Binders for schoolwork: Why the binder system and show an example.
One expert tip: Keep everything the student needs to facilitate course work within reach and be sure he/she puts things in the proper place. Keeping materials within the learner’s reach also allows for a faster transition between activities and reduces frustration or stress.
The white cart is the “mommy” cart or the “teacher” cart. That is off-limits to the student. It has wheels so it can be cleaned around or moved to another area if needed. I keep everything I need there so the workflow is consistent. It is my job as the teacher to pull supplies and materials specific to that day's lesson PRIOR to the school day begins. Students lose focus quickly-especially if they are young or are easily distracted. 5 minutes off track may lead to 30 minutes trying to redirect a student.
I hope you enjoyed this tour of our small classroom. Please let me know how you decorated your classroom in the comment section below. I can't wait to see your answers.
