Beverly from Philadelphia asked me the difference between a Tank and a Self propelled gun. The basic difference is one of purpose. Tanks need to be heavily armored against direct fire threats. They need to fire a flat-shooting round out to 4000-5000 meters. Self-Propelled Artillery needs to shoot a large, heavy shell out to 25-40km and does not need to move as fast as a tank since it ideally stays in the rear. A correction from my first video on Pv2 King which can be found here: https://youtube.com/shorts/wUiiaGJ0oAA?feature=share It appears that Pv2 King never made it into ACIS or the Army Corrections Information System. This leads me to believe that the unit, not the military police escorted him to the airport. Since the unit escort was not law enforcement, they could not pass security to get on the flight. Pv2 realized this and made a series of decisions that lead him into North Korea. America does not leave solders behind no matter what mistakes they make, so I'm sure we are doing everything we can to bring him home. I recently did some consulting for Veloxxity, a private intelligence company and while there I worked with a tool from Cyabra that allowed me to identify inauthentic accounts and misinformation spreaders without having to resort to custom Python scripts. What I discovered leads me to believe that Russia has a limited number of "hardpoints" - for their misinformation delivery. These "hardpoints" are reserved for only the most important misinformation campaigns. This dovetails in with two important, but annual military exercises - Atlantic Resolve which is essentially a logistical exercise in Europe and UNITAS, which is a combined Naval and Marine exercise with South America. For all intents and purposes, UNITAS is a gold mine of possible misinformation content since roughly 37 million Americans are of Mexican ancestry and this year UNITAS is focusing on RSVs or Remote Surface Vehicles - essentially waterborne drones. But Russia instead decided to put its bot network into promoting Operation Atlantic Resolve. This leads to some interesting data - that they may have a limited number of "hardpoints" - that is launching platforms for misinformation. The idea posed by this tweet is that NATO is being weakened in material due to the war in Ukraine. I do t believe that this is true because a war with China would look a lot different than one with Russia. China should be more of a naval and Air Force conflict, although Marines would be involved as well. And the kinds of munitions used in a Pacific conflict are not the same as ones used in a conflict in Eastern Europe, although there may be some artillery support. There's been a lot of misinformation about DPICM, so let me set the record straight. DPICM or Dual Purpose Improved Conventional Munitions or "cluster bombs" are a way of delivering ordinance to a target without the need for precision aiming. The problem, is that when the DPICM shell opens up to deploy its submunitions, some submunitions (1%-3% for NATO, up to 40% for Russian) are damaged when they smack into each other. This means that they become "duds" and don't explode, although they are still dangerous, and essentially become land mines. This means that they can't be used in urban areas where civilians may be present. It also means that you can't use them against targets you intend to overrun later because you are creating your own minefield. DPICM isn't necessarily good against trenches either because their explosive power is more like a grenade than an artillery shell. So soldiers can hide in bunkers successfully against submunitions - these shells are devastating against soldiers and vehicles in the open, but not so good against solders under cover. Because of the nature of the war in Ukraine, I believe that Ukraine will instead disassemble the DPICM 155 rounds and use them individually as drone-dropped munitions. DPICM or Dual Purpose Improved Conventional Munitions is an artillery delivered shell that breaks open when near the target releasing "bomblets" or "Submunitions." The US M483A1 155mm howitzer round contains 88 of these submunitions - 64 M42 and 24 M46. The rounds are shape charge rounds which can penetrate roughly 4 cm of armor and have secondary blast effects that can be devastating to troops in the open. However, between 2-4% of these munitions fail to explode when they hit the ground because they collide with each other and are damaged during the release process. These rounds are "duds" but can still explode, which effectively turn any area saturated with DPICM into a minefield.
