Exploring Graveyard Decoding Symbols Found (how to)
We were exploring this graveyard and decoding symbols round on tombstones in what turned into an impromptu how to video. This video is part of our historical exploration that takes us to cemeteries/graveyards in search of genealogy clues that later lead us into metal detecting adventures on other sites (no we do not metal detect graveyards). Some of the symbols that we decode give clues as to the activities of the people buried there. In this video, we traveled to the Hollywood Cemetery in McComb, MS where Hugh White is also buried. We will have a lot more on Governor White and his family in another video coming up. For those that like our metal detecting videos, we will be releasing a new one tomorrow and another video next week. Not to worry, we are not just a graveyard channel now, but we also do metal detecting and anything that relates to History and investigating our past including genealogy.

Exploring Old GraveYard in backwoods of Alabama (150 years old)
We went exploring this old graveyard in the backwoods of Alabama that is approximately 150 years old. We recorded this video as part of our genealogy / graveyard series where we dive into the research and tell the story about forgotten people in history. Part of our history is highlighting the lives of everyday people so that they are never forgotten. Sometimes this means we go deep into the backwoods to find forgotten old home or cemetery. This adventure takes us into the Alabama Forrest where the James Denman Family Cemetery is located. It was also known as the Brannon Cemetery. This graveyard has been documented in findagrave.

Metal Detecting uncovers BIG Silver coins spot for relic hunters (2020)
In this video, Metal Detecting uncovers a BIG Silver coin spot for relic hunters unexpectedly the focus changes from finding union or confederate civil war relics to finding big silver coins. We originally did not know that we were going to be detecting a location that was used after the civil war as a swimming/picnicking spot. Inevitably people lost silver coins and other old coins. Over the years these items became buried treasure until found by these relic hunters. We were shocked to find something on one of the big silver coins that made this a metal detecting find to treasure. We were using our Minelab Equinox 800 Metal detectors and also trying the new Minelab Vanquish 540 pro pack. This hunter was in early 2020 prior to the stay at home orders.

Return to Lynyrd Skynyrd Crash Site Metal Detecting 2020 (Minelab Vanquish)
This is the return to the Lynyrd Skynyrd crash site metal detecting in March 2020 using the new Minelab Vanquish metal detectors. During this second trip, we have an incredible and unbelievable find from the crash location of the Convair CV-240 which was the last flight of the southern rock and roll band Lynyrd Skynyrd. The flight went down on October 20, 1977, and took with it band members Ronnie Van Zant, Steve Gaines, Cassie Gaines, assistant road manager Dean Kilpatrick as well as Pilot Walter McCreary and co-pilot William Gray. It would be remiss to not remember the pilot and co-pilot who lost their lives in this tragedy, as well. Lynyrd Skynyrd had multiple-hit southern rock classics such as Free Bird, Sweet Home Alabama, and Tuesday's Gone. The History Seekers have never sold any of their relics and that remains true in the case of this dig.
⚠️ At the request of the landowner, we are to advise anyone attempting to trespass on this site WILL be arrested. It is posted property and it is monitored by cameras at all times. ⚠️

We would like to thank Debbie Smikoski from Minelab for bringing the new Vanquish 440 and Vanquish 540 Pro Pack for us to test on this historic dig. Link in pinned comments for more info on the Vanquish.

EPIC Big Silver Cache found at abandoned WWII military base! (metal detecting)
We found an EPIC BIG SILVER CACHE at an abandoned WWII military base while metal detecting! The history Seekers Team was invited to an abandoned US Army base to locate silver coins, relics, and other items related to the soldiers that were training there prior to being deployed to Europe. This was only in operation during World War II and closed at the end of the war. We found big silver coins, relics, soldier's medals, and much more with our minelab CTX3030 and minelab Equinox 800 metal detectors. You won't believe all of the buried treasure that we found there that was left behind by soldiers and part of this silver cache / hoard. This may qualify as another find of a lifetime. #historyseekers #silver #metaldetecting

Historic Tour of General US Grant's Home (No metal detecting)
We took a historic tour of General U.S. Grant's Home. We are not able to do any metal detecting on this site but wanted to share this important part of history with our viewers. U.S. Grant was the 18th President of the United States (POTUS) and a Union General of the American Civil War. He returned home to Galena, IL after the war where he and his wife, Julia Dent Grant, resided until being elected president. Most of the items seen were owned by the Grant family outside of a few pieces that are noted during the tour. Ulysses S. Grant was an important person in the History of our country and his home is a historical location. If you are interested in old homes or antiques you will find this interesting.

Artifacts found Metal detecting for confederate soldier civil war camps (private site exploring)
Artifacts found Metal detecting for confederate soldier civil war camps (private permission). After filming last week's location of the confederate soldier in Munford, AL we decided to chase Civil War artifacts and got access to a private location thanks to Scott's friend Tommy. We had no prior research other than we knew both Union and Confederate soldiers were in this area during the American Civil War. What we stumbled across on this private site while exploring for artifacts / relics recovered gives us reason to believe there will be more located there in the future. If you love metal detecting, metal detectors, or just History, in general, you do not want to miss this episode of History Seekers! We were using our Minelab Equinox 800 metal detectors during this hunt.

Soldier's Body Recovered in Yard (last confederate lost in battle)
The Soldier's Body Recovered in Yard is believed to be the last confederate lost in battle. This is about the recovery of Lt. Andrew Jackson Buttram, CSA, from the American Civil War. The battle/skirmish happened in Munford, Alabama on April 23, 1865 and his body was recovered on February 26, 2020. Some of his family members were present when the body was recovered and the Son's of Confederate Veterans (SCV) Post 454 have been instrumental in working with local officials to have the soldier properly buried with honors. The soldier was buried in uniform and several buttons and his boots were also recovered as well as the round believed to have ended his life. Questions now remain if the round was fired from confederate cannon or confederate musket as it does not match what the union troops were using in this battle.
Lt. Andrew Jackson Buttram, The Last Confederate Casualty in the War Between the States:
In April 1865, the South was just about overrun. Still, brave defenders stood up to the invader and defended their country, their states, and their communities. Lt. Andrew Jackson Buttram, the defender of Munford, was one such man.
Lt. Buttram and a contingent of 500 citizens, invalids, and home guards faced a hostile invader numbering approximately 2500. The defenders didn't have much hope but stand they did! During the short battle, Lt. Buttram and two Union soldiers lost their lives. It is not known how many were wounded. They were buried where they fell. After the war, the Union soldiers were disinterred and carried home. Lt. Buttram remained in his wartime grave.
The Town of Munford and the Samuel C. Kelly SCV Camp 454, are working together to finally give Lt. Buttram the funeral he deserves.
The University of Alabama Archaeology Department will disinter Lt. Buttram from his now unmarked grave and he will be given a full Confederate Military Funeral when he is reburied at the foot of the monument honoring his sacrifice. April 17-18, 2020, rain or shine. #historyseekers #history #civilwar

WOW a 1700's flintlock pistol found metal detecting patriot sites for colonial coins and relics?
WOW a 1700s flintlock pistol found metal detecting patriot sites for colonial coins and relics? During a recent trip to Charleston, SC we visited with our friends from the low country metal detecting club. We want in search of colonial coins and relics from local patriot homes and known plantations. Did we stumble onto a military site from the American Revolution or could there have been militia activity in the area? We found something that would be on anyone's bucket list! We were also joined by Debbie Smikoski from Minelan Metal Detectors. She brought with her a Vanquish 540 for us to try in addition to our current cache of Minelab detectors including the Equinox 800 and CTX3030. If you like silver, coppers, colonial relics, flintlock pistols, or even military relics check this video out. Be sure to help us out by hitting the subscribe button as well as sharing with your friends on social media. Special thanks to Axel Macon, Chris Jenkins, and Mat Lomas for making this trip possible. #historyseekers

Metal detecting for silver coins at old houses
We went metal detecting for silver coins at old houses in this video. Part of the History Seekers team went door-knocking in Dallas, GA in hope of finding silver coins. Usually, a trip to Dallas is for Civil War relics but on this trip, old coins were the focus. They found several silvers and yes even one civil war relic too. The homeowner was happy that the guys turned over artifacts to her. Join the team as take their Minelab Equinox 800 metal detectors and CTX3030 detector out looking for treasure.

Live at Charleston Relic Show
We were live at the Charleston Relic Show. The location was was Omar Shrine Temple in Mount Pleasant, SC. At the show, we toured many of the tables displaying artifacts from most of the major wars from the Revolution to Vietnam and all points between. The main focus of the show is Civil War relics but you can find fossils and many other items there too. This is a live unscripted video that was originally live on youtube. You will hear us commenting on things being said from the live chat interaction during the video so we are not talking to ourselves. :D
We would like to thank everyone that stopped by our table as well. It was great meeting all of our subscribers and showing the Lynyrd Skynyrd Crash Relics.

Metal Detecting SECRET spot keeps giving bucket listers! (shocked)
This metal detecting secret spot keeps giving bucket listers! This is a spot that we have used metal detectors on for the past year and it continues to produce amazing bucket lister finds. It has also produced at least one find of a lifetime. It was used by the United States Army during the Spanish American War then again in 1912 and 1915. This location has produced amazing silver coins, gold items, relics, antique bottles, and other historical treasures. No matter if your interest is treasure or history. There is always something interesting that is dug up at this site. With so many bucket list finds having come from this spot the question is how long can we keep this great place secret? Join the History Seekers team as we go back to this secret spot again and are shocked at how much we found AGAIN! In this video, we are using the Minelab Equinox 800. #metaldetecting #history #treasure

During a spooky night hunt and we metal detect all weekend both day and night. During this civil war relic hunt, we dug up a lot more than just Minié balls during the night's adventure. We are using our Minelab Equinox 800 metal detectors. We travel all over the state of Alabama hunting for these relics. The History Seekers team braves the spooky woods at night to dig. the best finds during this weekend marathon detector session. This adventure will be fun for the veteran relic hunter or even for the beginner learning how to metal detect and wanting how-to lessons. Our metal detecting finds are often featured in American Digger Magazine. Metal Detecting on a Haunted Battlefield NIGHT & Day! (Part I)
Metal Detecting on a Haunted Battlefield NIGHT & Day! (Part I). During a spooky night hunt and we metal detect all weekend both day and night. During this civil war relic hunt, we dug up a lot more than just Minié balls during this night. Check the pinned comments for contact information for Heath Jones from Treasure Mountain Metal Detectors if you are wanting to get started.
We were brave enough to go into the woods near a Civil War battle braving, alligators, spiders, snakes, and some even worry about ghosts! Would you brave the spooky, scary, dangerous places to find Civil War relics? Will we find relics, a civil war ghost, will we catch an evp, the paranormal or a dangerous animal? #metaldetecting #civilwar #history

Our oldest find ever! Ancient relics with rattlesnake encounter! (PreHistoric)
Our oldest find ever! Ancient relics with rattlesnake encounter! (PreHistoric) is our video of finding fossils of items that predated the dinosaurs. You will not believe the age of the finds in this video. We also had a close encounter with a rattlesnake during this hunt! Normally we would out metal detecting for relics but we were able to leave the detectors in the truck for this hunt. Needless to say, our first Fossil Hunt was a success by far! It is mind-blowing how old these items are actually. We were joined by our Youtube friend Brandon from Adventure Archaeology We even had a close encounter with a rattlesnake! We were shocked that he never made a sound! On History Seekers we have everything related to history, from metal detecting, coins, relics, and bottles all the way back to paleontology.
If you are interested in getting into metal detecting contact Heath Jones and let him know that you are a History Seekers subscriber / viewer. Call him direct at 256-284-2247

The OLD Military Camp that never stops giving up finds metal detecting!
The OLD Military Camp that never stops giving up finds metal detecting! This Spanish American War camp continues to produce amazing relics and finds even after using metal detectors here for over a year! In the past, we have found rare relics like ID badges in our find of a lifetime 2019 video. This is the same camp that was written about our finds in American Digger Magazine. In this video, the History Seekers are joined by Brandon from Adventure Archaeology and Exploring Alabama. Can we match our valuable finds from the as happens most trips here? Watch this video to find out! If you are looking for info on the Minelab Equinox 800 or other metal detectors / gear see the links in the pinned comment below.

Lynyrd Skynyrd Plane Crash Metal Detecting - Uncut Part II - Final
What Investigators missed at the Lynyrd Skynyrd Plane Crash Metal Detecting - Uncut Part II video to document the recovery of items to be turned over to museums. The band crashed into a wooded and swampy area of Mississippi shortly after leaving Greenville, SC on October 20, 1977. Six people lost their lives that afternoon which were Southern Rock legends Ronnie Van Zant, Steve Gaines, Cassie Gaines, and their manager Dean Kilpatrick. Also lost were pilot Walter McCreary and co-pilot William Gray. Relics recovered during this metal detecting excavation will NOT be sold. The accident site is NOT a burial ground and is on private property that was detected with permission. We will announce in our community section the museum that will be displaying the first set of these relics. Currently, an agreement is being drafted by the museum and legal staff. The items will be turned over at no charge to the museum.
Our team has worked on many historical sites such as Andersonville Prison with the National Park Service Archaeologist in the past as well as many other state and local government agencies. Our team consists of volunteers with various expertise to include metal detecting, law enforcement, historians, and genealogist. All members cover their own travel expenses. Some detectors are donated for use by Treasure Mountain Metal Detectors to aid in our mission.
The History Seekers never sell any of their relics and that remains true in the case of this dig. It is our goal to bring these items to places that will showcase these pieces of Classic Rock/ Southern Rock / Rock N Roll History.

Lynyrd Skynyrd's Last Flight Metal Detecting Recovery
Lynyrd Skynyrd's Last Flight Metal Detecting Recovery is our latest video where we recovered relics from the best classic rock band in Southern Rock history. The flight went down on October 20, 1977 and took with it Ronnie Van Zant, Steve Gaines, Cassie Gaines, and assistant road manager Dean Kilpatrick. It would be remiss to not remember the pilot and co-pilot who lost their lives in this tragedy, as well. Lynyrd Skynyrd had multiple hit southern rock classics such as Free bird, Sweet Home Alabama, and Tuesday's Gone. ⚠️ At the request of the landowner, we are to advise anyone attempting to trespass on this site WILL be arrested. It is posted property and it is monitored by cameras at all times. ⚠️
We recovered multiple relics and coins related directly to the plane as well as items that may have been used by the band. During this dig, we used Minelab Equinox 800 detector and CTX 3030 metal detector to recover items that haven't been seen since that evening.
The History Seekers treat all of their sites with the utmost respect. While this site yielded relics that were truly a find of a lifetime, it was also special for one of our members. Kelly was born on October 20, 1977, the day of the crash. Her dad was a huge fan of Lynyrd Skynyrd and this experience was truly special for her.
The History Seekers never sell any of their relics and that remains true in the case of this dig. It is our goal to bring these items to places that will showcase these pieces of Rock N Roll History.
Stay tuned for an upcoming article in American Digger Magazine and an additional UnCut version of the video where you can see all the relics and footage from this dig.
