Most of us walk around with tracking devices (phones) on us while being watched by a myriad of cameras. We know that government actors search these records about us pretty freely, but is it legal? For a warrant to be valid, it must particularly describe what is to be searched and what is to be seized. While many may point out that these warrants do particularly describe where the data to be searched is, they may not particularly describe what data for which they are searching. This is why judges need to make sure that any geofence warrant is limiting both the size and timeframe to gather the particular data needed. What happens when a parent’s right to consent to their child’s medical care conflicts with the child’s wishes? What role should a court have in deciding not only a question of parental consent, but notification? These are all questions in the case Doe v. Chapman, which was decided in the Eighth Circuit in April 2022. This decision was appealed to the Supreme Court, which decided the case in March of 2023, with a single justice dissenting. As an exampe, Ms. Doe is not only looking to get an abortion without her parent’s consent, but without them being aware of it either. Hence the issue with parental notification of the hearing. However, Ms. Doe is still a minor. That means not only is she unable to give consent, but her parents are legally responsible for her as well. The Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine, along with others, has filed suit against the Food and Drug Administration regarding its approval of the abortion drug Mifeprex. Their complaint claims that the FDA violated multiple federal laws and its own regulations when it first approved the drug. The only way the FDA could have approved chemical abortion drugs was to use its accelerated drug approval authority, necessitating the FDA to call pregnancy an “illness.” In asserting these transparently false conclusions, the FDA exceeded its regulatory authority to approve the drugs. So a militia is the able-bodied men of a country, organized into companies, regiments, and brigades. They are distinguished from regular troops by the fact that they are only required to serve in emergencies. It was expected that each state would have its own militia and that they were necessary to keep the individual states free. It could be security from other states, foreign governments, and, yes, even the central government. By making sure the states could defend themselves, it gives the Union a powerful and distributed defense force. Of course, that’s not to say that the militia did not have a duty to the central government. We often talk about our right to be free, but we rarely consider the duties that freedom places on us. In America today, we have all sorts of collectives, most of them opposed to other collectives. Republicans vs. Democrats, Progressives vs. Conservatives, Deplorables vs. Elites. In fact, Christians are famous for their collectives, which we call denominations. There are probably thousands of collectives, and millions of definitions for each and every one. When we allow others to determine what groups we are a part of, what labels we are assigned, and what they mean, we have given up our freedom and become slaves to the definitions of other people. If we want to live free, we must start by not allowing others to define us, and by extension, not define others by their groups. When people use labels, they, more often than not, are trying to put people in a box, so they can define and control them or simply dismiss them. If someone can call you a conservative, a progressive, an anarchist, or a socialist, they determine for themselves how you should live, and generally will punish you for not meeting their expectations... There is legislation making its way through the North Carolina legislature claiming to be a Parents’ Bill of Rights. Would Senate Bill 49 actually create a Parent’s Bill of Rights, or is this just another example of over-promising and under-delivering? I understand the need to not only protect the rights of parents, but protect children from abusive parents. This legislation, however, goes too far. The first-ever study of Police Traumatic Brain Injury was begun by an injured trooper's wife at a major university. A traumatic brain injury ended the career of North Carolina state trooper Humberto Reyna. It also nearly ended his life but life as he knew it would never be the same, nor would it be for his wife Kay. The severity of the injury would be misdiagnosed and lead to Humberto being permanently disabled and requiring care for the rest of his life. What happened? What happened next, shocked Kay. If you don’t pay your taxes, your home can be foreclosed to pay your tax debt. But what happens when the value of your property is greater than the debt you owe? Is it, as many municipalities say, simply excess proceeds, or is it theft? After purchasing his property, Mr. DiPietro was repeatedly frustrated in his attempts to make money from it by the Town of Bolton and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The actions of the Town of Bolton and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts made it impossible for Mr. DiPietro to pay the taxes he owed on his property. Eventually, the Massachusetts Superior Court found that Mr. DiPietro owed the town of Bolton approximately $60,000 in taxes, interest, fines, and legal fees. The town of Bolton foreclosed on his property, which according to Mr. DiPietro’s lawsuit, was worth at least $370,000. If that sounds like theft to you, Mr. DiPietro agrees. Which is why he filed suit in the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts. The courts said that Mr. DiPietro owed the Town of Bolton $60,000, but they deprived him of the $310,000 of equity he had in the property without due process... We’re told that we must ignore basic biology and pander to the psychosis that sex is something we can change at will. Such is the situation with the case Adams v. School Board of St. Johns County, FL. Drew Adams is a minor girl pretending to be a boy. Even though the St. Johns County School Board has made accommodations for Ms. Adams delusions, she’s still not happy. She wants to use the boy's bathroom, rather than the sex-neutral bathrooms that were specifically set aside for the very few confused students. She is so insistent that she, through her mother, sued the school district in federal court. The Circuit Court looked at the decision from the District, along with the questions about the Equal Protection Clause and Title IX, and came to the quite reasonable conclusion that having single-sex bathrooms based on biology is not discriminatory.
