What does it mean to think well? | Mere Liberty Courses
What is the Liberty Seminar and why is this valuable to me and my kids? What is the Socratic method? Is this going to teach how to be more argumentative? Don't we have enough criticism? How will this benefit me or my kids in other areas of life?
These are just some questions I've fielded in the past about my seminars. Maybe you have others. This free call is available to anyone who's interest is piqued but wants more information about my Liberty Seminar.
Attendees will be given an exclusive discount for joining the call to learn more. The call will be recorded for those who cannot attend, but only those who are actually on the call will get the discount code.

Anarchism, Minarchism, and Legitimacy in Civil Governance
Christian libertarians, both anarchist and minarchist, hold to the necessity of civil law and order in a free society. Those who would violate the rights of others will always exist. These injustices require recompense through the administration of civil justice. This is the task of civil governance. A state is an organization that coercively maintains a monopoly of civil governance in a territory. The key question, and the principal disagreement between minarchism and anarchism, is whether the state is a legitimate means to accomplish civil governance?

Four Common Objections to Reformed Libertarianism
Re posted from Nate Xanders: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAgDUKzwFm3wuG6oUTKULhw
Gregory Baus, Aaron Cuevas, and Kerry Baldwin overcome 4 common objections to the compatibility of the Reformed Christian faith and libertarianism.
Question 1: What is the legitimate use of coercion according to libertarianism? Is it consistent with libertarianism to right an injustice that has nothing to do with self-defense?
https://youtu.be/eaoJ8qEH6bg?t=193
Question 2: Does libertarianism reject civil governance as such? Doesn’t Scripture tell us that civil government should enforce morality?
https://youtu.be/eaoJ8qEH6bg?t=716
Question 3: Doesn’t libertarianism hold to ‘atomistic’ individualism, meaning that societal communities are merely fictions?
https://youtu.be/eaoJ8qEH6bg?t=1473
Question 4: When it comes to the role of the civil magistrate, can Reformed libertarianism be consistent with the historical Reformed confessions?

6 Stages of Thinking - Liberty Seminar
Socratic seminars are small groups, 5-15 people, employing the time-tested method of critical thinking used by Socrates to challenge the paradigms of the people. Seminars promote productive dialogue, civil discourse, critical thought. This is a skill that is learned, and must be practiced or it is lost.
Liberty Seminar: This seminar is designed to introduce students to the foundational ideas of free and prosperous societies. We use the Socratic method of dialogue to facilitate critical thinking and examination of these ideas, and encourage testing them against opposing view points.

Aimee Byrd, Recovering From Biblical Manhood and Womanhood
In this episode, I talk to Aimee Byrd; author of the book, Recovering from Biblical Manhood and Womanhood. Aimee uses thematic elements from a dystopian novella, The Yellow Wallpaper, to illustrate problems with teachings on gender by the Council of Biblical Manhood and Womanhood, and many protestant denominations. Her book is a call to action to Christians, and especially church leaders, to begin dialoguing about the problems she's drawing out and what the orthodox Christian view answers actually are.

Give Me Liberty, by Rose Wilder Lane
The coronavirus outbreak has us all switching gears. Given that government powers are taking advantage of this crisis, and seizing power beyond their constitutional limitations, I thought I'd narrate Rose Wilder Lane's personal journey out of communist thinking. Here, I'm narrating chapters 1 and 2 of, Give Me Liberty.

Etienne de la Boétie
In this episode of Flashes of Liberty, we look at Etienne de la Boétie.
La Boétie provides one of the earliest and clearest explanations of why the suffering majority obeys the minority who rule over them; it is an example of voluntary servitude. Here is an abridged excerpt La Boetie's writing.
