The American White Pelican has the second-largest wingspan of any bird in North America, measuring up to 120 inches, just shorter than that of the California Condor. It's also very large—up to 70 inches long—and very plump, weighing up to 30 pounds! Unlike the Brown Pelican, the American White Pelican catches food in its bill while swimming instead of diving for food. On day 2 of our trip to Farragut State Park, we spent the day hiking out to Idlewilde Bay having no idea what we would find. Once we noticed an eagle's nest, we knew we had to have a shot of a bald eagle bringing food to the two eaglets in it! While on vacation to Lake Roosevelt, we spotted this Great Horned Owl in the woods near the lake. We were amazed at how close he let us get and the incredible 4K footage we were able to capture. A Great Blue Heron tries and tries again to catch dinner, but will he succeed? Filmed at Medical Lake, this Great Blue Heron was fishing and kept striking at the water, and we were able to capture him in 4K and in 1080p slow-motion when he was finally able to catch a fish from the lake. Watch closely and you'll see his nictitating membrane (a transparent inner eyelid) when he blinks! We filmed a bunch of awesome wildlife, but on our way home the DC station we planned to use was not working, forcing us to find another way to get home! This situation is unfortunately a common one when utilizing charging stations located at Nissan dealerships; even though they sell the Leaf EV that plugs into this station, they don't seem to have any knowledge of the vehicles they sell or the chargers they privately own on-site to support them.
