Plant of the Week - Blockoli - was offered between May 19, 2024 through May 26, 2024. Blockoli is a member of the Reinforce-Mint family. Blockoli costs 75 Sun. (-25 Sun at levels 5 and 10.) Blockoli heals 400 hit points to the plant on its immediate right. (+50 healing per level except levels 4 and 8.) Blockoli can heal every six (6) seconds. (-1 second on levels 4 and 8.) When given plant food, Blockoli heals all plants in a 3x3 area around it. This effect happens every time Reinforce-Mint is planted. Commentary: While the obvious use case would be for plants like Wall-nut or Tall-nut, Endurian would be a nice plant as it damages zombies who eat it. Same with a powered up Murkadamian Nut. Chard Guard would be nice allowing for quicker regeneration of the leaves. Pumpkins would also be a nice plant as it would allow for some melee plants like Bonk Choy or Snapdragon to be better protected while being on the front lines. Bottom Line: Blockoli's 75 + Pumpkin's 150 = 225 Sun * 5 = 1,125 Sun which is quite a lot to spend on defense. Blockoli + Wall-nut = 125 which is not a bad block. Although Tall-nut costs the same and has many more hit points, blocks fliers and saves a column. We do not “hate” Blockoli. It's not a bad plant. We just find the use case quite limited. Blockoli is a member of the Reinforce-Mint family. Blockoli costs 150 Sun. (-25 Sun at levels 2, 5 and 10.) Blockoli has 6,000 hit points. (+1,000 per level. An additional 500 at levels 9 and 10.) Blockoli swings his florets dealing 95 damage. (+10 damage per level. +10 additional damage from level 4, +10 additional damage from level 7. +30 additional damage at level 10.) When Blockoli attacks, zombies will be stunned for 3 seconds. (+1 second at levels 2, 4, 7 and 10.) Blockoli is immune to the special abilities of the Fisherman Zombie and Excavator Zombie. Commentary: One of the early strategies that players quickly learn is a short range/melee plant behind some sort of nut: Bonk Choy + Wall-nut or Snapdragon + Tall-Nut for instance. Blockoli is definitely worth considering. It has lots of hit points and the ability to stun zombies for a decent length of time allows for more Sun-intensive plants like Banana Launcher or Winter-melon. The immunity to the Fisherman zombie's pull effect makes Big Wave Beach much easier. Ignoring Excavator zombie's shovel makes Blockoli much more desirable. Being a Reinforce-mint plant, whenever this mint is planted, its plant food effect would be triggered. While Blockoli would gain additional armor, the knockback effect of Reinforce-mint means Blockoli's floret attack would most likely be wasted. Bottom Line: While Blockoli is at its core a defensive plant, it has enough desirability to make it a solid addition in certain circumstances. The Alliance Dungeon was offered between May 26, 2024 through June 1 , 2024. This video shows the completion of the Alliance Dungeon for May 2024. Each dungeon lasts one (1) week and consists of three (3) levels which must be completed as a gauntlet. No swapping of leaders or troops is allowed and must be completed by a leader of the faction of the week. Completing the dungeon allows for Army Upgrades which allows certain minis in certain spots to gain up to three (3) levels. Warcraft Rumble was released on November 3, 2023. Based on the World of Warcraft cast of characters, Warcraft Rumble is a miniature 4X game where each round lasts no more than four (4) minutes. This game is designed to be played on a mobile device and does require an internet connection, although it does run quite well in an emulated mode on a personal computer. Bucking the trend of most mobile games, Warcraft Rumble has NO ADVERTISING! We appreciate this trend by Blizzard. That said, they do have a store for micro-transactions. After all, the bills need to be paid somehow. We'd rather have a store than the constant barrage of annoying, intrusive and data-sucking advertisements.

Block Blast is a game reminiscent of old 8-bit console games where the player needs to slide a block on a rising stack of blocks over its color. Once there is a match, then the entire row disappears. This goes on until the top block reaches the top of the screen. This is one of those situations where the descriptions which will make sense once you see the video. This game has no advertisements. This game has no objectionable material. This game feels like a proof-of-concept project which was released. Probably one of those code-camp challenges and the author just released it because the author could. A tutorial or instruction screen would be nice but not really needed as you can figure out the game fairly quickly. So what's the bottom line? As a code challenge, this game passes. The game works. This game has music. This game has no bugs that we were able to see. As a game though, this game will get boring very quickly. How could the game be made better? We are not sure. Making the block rise faster doesn't make the game challenging. That just makes it difficult and frustrating.

What is Logo Guess Challenge? Logo Guess Challenge is a game where a logo is given and the player complete the word using the supplied letters. It makes more sense once you have done a level or two. Is there any objectionable material? This game has no objectionable material. At least that any reasonable person would find objectionable. What are the pros and cons of this game? Pros: Young children can play this game. It's a different kind of game compared to the match 3, shooters, idle and all the other genres available. Cons: There is no soothing background music. That would have been nice. Some of these logos and companies one has never seen before, especially early on. One either knows the company's logo or one does not. There is no “guess” mechanism. One is encouraged to use the hint system which requires viewing ads or paying cash. Some of the logos are altered to remove letters. This makes them unidentifiable if one uses a tool to identify pictures. A skippable ad appears after every three (3) levels. What's the bottom line? This is the kind of game which can be a fun party or social game. It can also be depressing at how many corporate logos one can identify. That said, there should be ramping up system. Adventure Ages is the 3rd idle clicker game from Hyper Hippo. The first was Adventure Capitalist and the second being Adventure Communist. This game takes the idle clicker concept of resource management and puts a story about fixing the space-time continuum. This video shows the progression of the game from the tiers listed above. We went about as far as we could go before the grind starts to take over. As you would expect from a mobile game, there is advertising and micro-transactions. Traffic Jam Cars Puzzle Legend is a combination Match 3 game with a nice dash of Parking Lot games where the player needs to clear the cars from a full and mixed up parking lot. How difficult is this game? So far, this appears to be a game meant for the majority of people. We've not encountered any serious difficulties. But then, we are still in the adventure / extended tutorial stage. This game does ramp up the difficulty level. What about advertising? Sadly, these appear. But that's the sad reality these days. The Policewoman and the Nurse are attractive and portrayed in an appealing manner. Pros: A nice twist on Match 3 games, adding a parking car element to the game. Nice power-ups. Decent challenges. Cons: Levels get a little challenging a little too quick. Bottom line: If you are a fan of puzzle games, this is a nice one to add to your collection.

Heroic Missions are unlocked once the player has completed the requisite fifty (50) levels in adventure mode - through Tier 10 Map 5. In order to clear each Heroic Mission, each boss must be defeated by a leader from each faction. In other words, five (5) separate defeats. Adventure Communist is the 2nd idle clicker game from Hyper Hippo. The first was Adventure Capitalist. Some of the words are not found in a standard dictionary. ~~~~~ Do you recommend this game? ~~~~~ While the lack of skins and music are not deal-breakers, we simply find the lack of solving the puzzle your way instead of the forced method to be a deal breaker. We have a policy here of not using hints or power ups to clear a level. We want to show that the games and puzzles have solutions. When we need to use a hint on a puzzle game because we could not solve it - even with online dictionary assistance - we just do not think this game will be enjoyable to anyone outside of the dedicated crossword puzzle crowd.

Farm Matching Animal Parking is a game where the player needs to clear out animal pens by guiding the animals by enticing them to move forwards or backwards. In essence, this is a parking lot game but with animals instead of vehicles. This game has no objectionable material. Well, at least that any reasonable person would find objectionable. What are the pros and cons of this game? Pros: Young children can play this game. We've encountered some mini-games which break the routine. Nothing difficult, but it is there. Cons: While the advertisements are not intrusive or mandatory, young children may activate viewing of ads "accidentally" when these windows pop up between levels. The game changes the color of the animals to increase the difficulty. While in of itself, this is not a con, the color changes are quite subtle and those individuals who have problems discerning shades - or are playing on a small screen - can get frustrated and may fail the level because of this. Distinct colors would be preferable. Even switching colors to make things more distinct. The game introduces a time-element in which one must clear the level. This can be frustrating. While so far the time has not been a factor, it can be on some of the longer levels, especially if one is distracted by real life. What's the bottom line? This is a not a bad change of pace game. It's a standard parking lot game. Children may have fun with the animals and some of their animations. But higher levels may be too difficult for children. Bottom line - this game is OK.

While I would expect a difficulty increase at level 500, having uncommon words in the early levels detracts and is mildly depressive. ~~~~~ Do you recommend this game? ~~~~~ We would like to. In of itself, there is nothing majorly wrong with this game. Sure, it could use music and different background skins but those are not deal-breakers. This game could do very well with children and teenagers if the game was geared towards their vocabulary level. Level 1's category was Medical Occupation. One of the answers is Pharmacist. While correct, this would frustrate a youngster who might be able to get the other clues. Mind you - this is level 1! Level 2 wasn't better. The bottom line is that we just think this is a lost opportunity.

Cores are carried by aliens, and when the aliens carrying them die, the cores are dropped, and will slowly float back to their central holder. Once all power cores have been taken from the level, the game is over. Only one power core needs to remain when the last wave of aliens are defeated to complete a level. 〰️〰️〰️ Is this a commitment game or a casual game? 〰️〰️〰️ As with any game one purchases, there is a commitment factor to it. After all, why pay for a game and not play it? That said, Defense Grid is more a casual game with levels lasting no more than 10-15 minutes. 〰️〰️〰️ What is this video about? 〰️〰️〰️ This video captures the story mode difficulty of the Awakening Story line. If you are a fan of Tower Defense games, give this one a shot. You will not be disappointed.

Cell Clones Wars is a game where the player assumes control over a single cell and must defeat an incoming horde of enemy cells/viruses within a time limit. While there is a tactical element to playing each level, there is also a strategic element with how to spend in-game currency to do various upgrades to eliminate the invaders. We typically prefer to obtain the ad-free version of each game we showcase. Showing ads while playing looks unprofessional and trying to edit the ads out of the videos is time-consuming. That said, even in the Pro/Ad-free version, ads were played before level 1 and every two (2) levels - pass or fail. We simply find that unacceptable. This game has no objectionable material. Well, at least that any reasonable person would find objectionable. What are the pros and cons of this game? Pros: A decent concept. A strategy and tactical concept. Cons: Way, way too many advertisements. Lack of a tutorial. It would be nice to know what the objective of game is and some background as to what is going on. Better information to the mechanics and upgrades. What's the bottom line? We simply can not endorse this game. It feels like a project that was abandoned and sold to an advertising group and promptly released.

What does this video show? This video shows Word Connect for the levels listed in the title. What is Word Connect Pro? Word Connect Pro is a Cross-word lite game where a group of letters are given and the player needs to fill the puzzle using only those letters given. How to play The player drags the pointer across the letters to make a combination. If this combination is a word, the player will be rewarded. Review of the game? The music is relaxing. The concept is fine. This game is good for those people where English is their primary language. Some of these words may not be known to non-native English speakers. However the word list leaves much to be desired: Some words are not known to the game - like MAGE. Some words are known but their plural is not - GAME is acceptable and GAMES is not. Some words are accepted in some levels but not in others. The game considers SAGEM, GPS and DIY as words. They are not. (Sagem is the name of a French company and GPS is an acronym while DIY is shorthand for Do It Yourself.) So this game needs to reconsider its dictionary file. We used a Scrabble dictionary to find words which stumped us - and still got stumped. What about advertisements? When connected to the Internet, an advertisement will appear every 3 or so levels. This game uses a cloud save feature over local storage. So if you enter airplane mode to play, remember to connect before you close out the game to keep your progress. Any objectionable material? You have to really go deep to find anything objectionable in a word sorting game. Words like SHIFT can be rearranged to have a naughty word shown. While the word is not counted as an acceptable word, or even a bonus word, some parents would be bothered if their young child accidentally saw it. So what is the bottom line? Is this a worthwhile game? As word puzzle games go, this is not a bad game - but with the aforementioned caveats. Just be warned that this game may frustrate you at times.

Reinforce-Mint was offered between May 20, 2024 through June 17, 2024. This video showcases the MINT plant - REINFORCE-MINT Reinforce-Mint will knock all zombies back 1.4 tiles when planted. Reinforce-Mint will activate the plant food ability of each Reinforce-Mint plant. Now activating all Reinforce-Mint plant food abilities - that can be awesome. The problem is that there are so few desirable effects. Sure, the nuts get tougher. But in of itself, that will not eliminate any zombies. Only Pea-Nut has any real offensive capabilities. Since this is a level-based game, the grind would come if levels needed to be repeated in order to obtain enough in-game currency to make necessary purchases. ~~~~~ What are the pros and cons of Cooking Kawaii? ~~~~~ Pros: Decent graphics. Children can learn the benefits of efficiency. Decent pace to the game. Cons: Game feels like it can get repetitive over time. While all games suffer from that trait, we feel that may start soon.. Jewel Charms and clones like this are a Match-3 game. Players make matches of three (3) or more to complete objectives. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ How does this differ from the other Match 3 games out there? The graphics are pretty. Combos of 4 or more give power ups. There are other variants that make this game interesting. Jewel Charms and its clones appear to be more of a campaign type game with options - free, advertising and real money. We will progress through this game as needed. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Any objectionable material? As with many games, there is an attractive woman who guides you. While not objectionable in itself, there are some individuals who would not appreciate the reinforcing of negative female stereotypes. We have discovered that Jewel Planet and its clones are indeed the same game with very minor differences. It appears that one copied/stole the game from the original author, re-branded the game and have released it under their banner. We find this practice disgusting; and we do not know who the original author is. We've actually found four (4) games under the "Jewel" name. All these games can be found in the Google Play store so Google hasn't discovered any is clone of the other.
