They further claim, that Trump's role in the siege of the Capitol on January 6, qualifies as "engaging in insurrection" and disqualifies him from running for office. STATUS UPDATE: On the second day of Defense's case, the focus was on the peaceful nature of the Jan 8 rally for the overwhelming majority of attendees. In an effort to dissuade the Court from vesting too much faith in the Jan 6 Committee Report, Rep. Ken Buck testified about the unusually heavy partisanship of the Committee in both its formation and final product. EXPECTATIONS FOR UPCOMING WITNESSES: Today is supposed to be short. We anticipate hearing from only one expert witness "Delhunty" for the Defense before we close for the weekend. They also produced a clerk of the Secretary Of State's office who attested that their office bars ineligible persons from running for office.
