The European Energy Fix
Last summer, the European Parliament classified natural gas and nuclear energy as "green", including qualifying natural gas and nuclear projects on the EU's list of environmentally sustainable economic activities. This new law is helping Europe meet its climate and energy targets for 2030 while solving its major energy crisis.
In response, Germany is leading the way to become an LNG hub in Europe, expanding its capacity through both floating and land-based terminals. The German government is heavily invested in boosting energy capacities to ensure future energy supplies. By 2024, six floating storage and regasification units could allow Germany to handle at least 37 billion cubic meters per year, with the potential to reach 54 billion cubic meters by 2027.
Meanwhile, Italy is also setting ambitious goals, focusing on upgrading existing plant capacities and selecting new offshore sites for two new LNG terminals.
With these efforts, Europe is making strides towards a more diversified and sustainable energy mix.

Oil Execs Pressured by Investors
In the article linked below, Tyler Durden writes, “The US oil industry is making huge payouts to investors instead of investing in future output, according to a Bloomberg analysis. Shareholders in US oil companies gained a $128bn windfall last year as companies prioritized returns such as dividends and buybacks over finding untapped crude reserves.
China's rapid reopening following Covid-19 lockdowns has caused worldwide oil demand to soar toward an all-time high, and some analysts forecast $100-a-barrel crude in the coming months.
However, there are concerns about the long-term prospects for fossil fuels, with investors skeptical that demand for them will continue as the world shifts toward electric cars and battery farms.”

Singing To Plants Feeds CO2
When humans exhale, we release carbon dioxide (CO2) into the air. Plants take in CO2 through tiny openings in their leaves called stomata, which they use in a process called photosynthesis to create energy for growth and reproduction.
When we sing or talk to our plants, we exhale more CO2 than when we are simply breathing. The extra CO2 can increase the amount of carbon available for the plant to use in photosynthesis, which can lead to increased growth and overall health of the plant.
Greenhouse growers often pump extra CO2 into their growing areas to help plants grow faster and larger. This is because the amount of CO2 in the air is too low and plants are starving for more, so adding extra CO2 can compensate for this and increase plant growth.

Wind Turbines Versus Oil Wells
I have often wondered how much energy is generated from a wind farm compared to an oil well and this is what I have learned.
If an oil well produced 200 barrels of oil per day, then that well would generate 1.16 billion Btu/day.
According to Chat GPT (see below), it would take 28 wind turbines with a 2-megawatt capacity to generate approximately the same amount f energy.
Here in Texas, ERCOT (see link below) determined our wind farms can only generate about 25% of their installed capacity. So now we are up to 112 turbines. If each turbine needs an acre of land per tower, then this means we need 112 acres with 112 wind turbines to produce the same amount of energy from just 1 oil well. With today’s drilling technology, we can place 6 wells on a simple 10-acre pad site.
So, you must consider the environmental impact of the 10-acre oil well pad site compared to the 672-acre wind farm which is bigger than 1 square mile!
Also missing from this comparison is, you must drill an oil well to make a wind turbine. Oil wells do not need wind turbines. You see, all you get from a wind turbine is electricity. Oil wells produce the building blocks of life. Hydrocarbons are used to make nearly everything we need to survive. (see link below)

https://www.visualcapitalist.com/can-made-one-barrel-oil/
The following information came from Chat CPT
The amount of energy generated by an oil well that produces 200 barrels of oil per day depends on various factors, including the quality of the oil and the efficiency of the equipment used to extract and refine it. However, we can estimate the amount of energy produced by the oil well based on the energy content of crude oil.
According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, the average energy content of a barrel of crude oil is about 5.8 million British thermal units (Btu). Therefore, an oil well that produces 200 barrels of oil per day would produce approximately:
200 barrels/day x 5.8 million Btu/barrel = 1.16 billion Btu/day
Now, let's compare this to the energy output of wind turbines. The energy output of a wind turbine depends on various factors, including the size and efficiency of the turbine and the wind speed at the location. According to the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, a typical modern wind turbine with a capacity of 2 megawatts (MW) can generate about 6 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity per year.
Assuming that the wind turbines operate at full capacity for a year, we can calculate the energy output as follows:
2 MW x 6,000 hours/year x 1,000 kW/MW = 12 million kWh/year
To convert this to Btu, we can use the conversion factor of 1 kWh = 3,412 Btu:
12 million kWh/year x 3,412 Btu/kWh = 40.944 billion Btu/year
Therefore, to generate the same amount of energy as an oil well that produces 200 barrels of oil per day, we would need:
1.16 billion Btu/day ÷ 40.944 billion Btu/year = 28.3 wind turbines (rounded up to the nearest whole number)
So, it would take approximately 28 wind turbines to generate the same amount of energy as 1 oil well that produces 200 barrels of oil per day.

The UK Natural Gas Crisis of 2022
Did you know that in just four months, the UK spent £60 billion importing gas to stave off a winter energy crunch? That's a staggering amount of money, especially when you consider that in the whole of 2021, the UK brought in less than £20 billion of gas.
But why is the UK in this situation? Well, the government decided to ban fracking years ago, which means they no longer have enough locally produced natural gas. Instead, they had to buy natural gas from a rogue enemy state, namely Russia. And when Russia attacked Ukraine, the sanctions that followed reduced the UK's access to the natural gas they needed for the winter.
The lack of access to natural gas forced the UK to buy LNG on the open market, which is a lot more expensive and produces more CO2 emissions worldwide than drilling and producing the needed natural gas locally. It seems that the UK parliament made some very bad decisions for their country and the climate as a whole.
https://notalotofpeopleknowthat.wordpress.com/2023/02/08/the-price-of-britains-mad-fracking-ban/
Let's hope that in the future, the UK can transition to sources of energy that are at least as environmentally friendly and just as reliable and low-cost as locally produced natural gas.

Unintended Consequences of Intermittent Energy
The transition from reliable and cost-effective energy sources to intermittent energy sources, such as wind and solar, has been championed as a necessary step in mitigating the effects of climate change. However, this transition can have unintended consequences, particularly for low-income and minority communities.
Intermittent energy sources are often more expensive than traditional sources, such as coal and natural gas. This can result in higher energy bills for households that can least afford it, leading to energy poverty. Poor and minority communities, who already face higher rates of poverty, are particularly vulnerable to these price increases.
Intermittent energy sources are, by definition, inconsistent in their production. This can lead to power outages and blackouts, which can be particularly dangerous for vulnerable populations. During heat waves or extreme cold spells, for example, a lack of reliable energy can be life-threatening for the elderly, sick, and young children.
The transition to intermittent energy sources often requires significant infrastructure investments, such as upgrading power grids and building new renewable energy plants. These investments are often concentrated in wealthier areas, leaving poor and minority communities with outdated and unreliable infrastructure.
Finally, the transition to intermittent energy sources can also have negative economic consequences for low-income and minority communities. Traditional energy sources often provide stable, well-paying jobs for these communities. The shift to renewable energy sources can result in job losses or lower-paying jobs, particularly if these jobs are located in wealthier areas far from low-income communities.
In contrast, wealthier individuals and communities are often better equipped to weather the challenges posed by intermittent energy sources. They have the financial resources to pay higher energy bills, invest in backup generators, and relocate if necessary. They also have more political power and influence to shape energy policy in their favor.
In conclusion, while many believe the world needs to transition to intermittent, unreliable wind and solar energy, it is important to consider the unintended consequences on low-income and minority communities. Policymakers should take steps to ensure that the transition is equitable and does not disproportionately harm vulnerable populations.

If No Oil Then No Civilization
Oil is a vital resource that has transformed the way we live, work, and communicate. Without oil, modern civilization as we know it would not exist. Think of the show “Naked and Afraid” on Discovery. This is because oil is not only used for transportation and energy production but also for manufacturing and agriculture.
Oil is the primary source of energy for transportation, which is the backbone of modern civilization. It powers the cars, trucks, ships, and planes that transport people, goods, and services across town and around the globe. Without oil, we would not be able to travel easily, and the movement of goods and services would be restricted.
Oil is an essential raw material for the manufacturing of many products. It is used to make plastics, synthetic fibers, and other materials that are used in everything from cars to computers. Without oil, many of the products we rely on today would not exist.
Oil is used in agriculture to produce fertilizers and pesticides. These chemicals have revolutionized agriculture and have made it possible to produce more food with less land. Without oil, we would not be able to produce enough food to feed the world's growing population.
However, the use of oil also comes with its drawbacks. The burning of fossil fuels has led to air pollution.
The question we have to ask do we end civilization or do we continue to find ways to improve the uses of crude oil and natural gas.
In conclusion, oil has played a crucial role in the development of modern civilization. It has transformed the way we live, work, and communicate. However, we must also acknowledge the environmental impacts of using oil and strive to find ways to improve the uses of oil.

The 2022 Mineral Baby
The Mineral Education Coalition released some data last year on the estimated amount of minerals, metals, and fuels that an American born in 2022 will use in their lifetime. This amount is just over 3 million pounds which includes over 55,000 pounds of cement, 250,000 pounds of coal, and over 1000 pounds of copper. Lithium grew 33% from 2020 to 2021 due to its use in batteries, especially electric car batteries.
Each year every American will need 914 gallons of petroleum 94,000 cubic feet of natural gas nearly 3300 pounds of coal to generate the energy we need for just 1 year!

Different Types of Royalty Income
The oil and gas industry is known for its significant returns and attractive royalty income. 4 common types are…
1. Royalty Interest. This is a percentage of production revenue paid to the owner of the mineral rights without the costs of the wells.
2. Overriding Royalty Interest (ORRI) is reserved for the geologist, engineer, or other technical experts who worked on the project. Their revenue is similar to the mineral rights owner because they do not bear any costs of the wells.
3. Net Profits Interest or Nonoperating Interest (NonOp) is based on the net profits of the oil and gas production does not bear any part of net losses.
4. Net Royalty Interest (NRI) goes to the Working Interest which is the ownership interest in the well that bears all the costs of the well plus the expenses to plug and abandon the well at the end of the life. They are entitled to a share of what is left from the production revenue.

Natural Gas Prices Could Rise Again
Natural gas, a key source of energy for heating and electricity, has seen its prices fluctuate wildly in the past year. After a surge in demand last winter and supply chain disruptions, prices hit record highs. But in the last few months, natural gas prices have dropped by about 70 percent.
The drop in prices is due to a variety of factors, including mild weather, increased domestic production, and the easing of supply chain issues. But experts warn that prices could go back up as new LNG export terminals come online over the next few months and years.
These terminals will enable more natural gas to be exported to countries around the world, driving up demand and potentially pushing prices higher. As the world looks to transition to cleaner forms of energy, natural gas will continue to play a crucial role in the global energy mix.
Stay tuned for more updates on the ever-changing natural gas market.

Finding the Property with the Most Oil
Tier 1 oil and gas property is a term used to describe the highest quality and most valuable mineral properties in terms of reserves, production history, geology, and location. These properties are located in established oil and gas producing areas and have proven reserves that can be extracted economically. They typically have easy access to existing infrastructure and favorable regulatory conditions.
Tier 2 oil and gas properties are considered to be of a lower quality than tier 1, but still have potential for oil and gas production. These properties may have lower proven reserves, less favorable geology, or less established production history.
Tier 3 oil and gas properties are considered to have a lower quality than tier 2 and are typically located in more remote or less developed areas. These properties have a higher risk of lower production, longer lead times, and higher costs to extract the oil or gas.
Fringe properties are located on the outskirts of established oil and gas producing areas and have little or no proven reserves. These properties are considered to be of the lowest quality and are typically more speculative in nature. The risks associated with these properties are usually higher due to the uncertainty of finding oil or gas and the cost of development.

Environmental & Social Impacts of Hard Rock Mining
Hard rock mining to produce the metals and rare earth elements necessary for the manufacturing of wind energy, solar energy, electric vehicles and storage batteries can have significant environmental impacts and risks, including:
1. Habitat destruction: Mining can result in the destruction of wildlife habitats, and the fragmentation of ecosystems, which can lead to declines in biodiversity.
2. Water pollution: Hard rock mining can contaminate water resources with heavy metals and other toxic substances, posing a risk to both human health and the environment.
3. Soil erosion: Mining can result in soil erosion and land degradation, which can lead to downstream flooding and other environmental impacts.
4. Air pollution: The release of dust and other particulate matter during mining can have negative impacts on air quality and public health.
5. Greenhouse gas emissions: Mining and processing of minerals and metals can result in the release of greenhouse gases, contributing to climate change.
6. Waste management: The production of minerals and metals generates large amounts of waste, including tailings, which can pose a risk to the environment if not properly managed.
7. Social impacts: Mining can displace local communities and disrupt traditional ways of life and can also lead to social and economic inequality.
8. Health risks: Workers involved in mining and processing operations may be exposed to hazardous chemicals and materials, posing risks to their health and safety.
9. Child Slavery: Dangerous risks associated with child slavery in cobalt mining It is widely known that these children are not secure and lack adequate protection as well as support and care from both the family and government. Mining in such an exposed and dangerous environment without any form of protection calls for immediate action.
https://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2023/02/01/1152893248/red-cobalt-congo-drc-mining-siddharth-kara
In order to minimize these impacts and risks, it is important to implement best practices in mining and mineral processing, and to prioritize the development of sustainable and environmentally responsible practices in the industry.

Wind and Solar Energy May Not Replace Thermal Energy
Intermittent wind and solar energy may not replace reliable thermal energy, especially during inclement weather that requires peaker power.
Intermittent renewable energy sources such as wind and solar power have become increasingly popular in recent years due to their potential to reduce carbon emissions and promote sustainability. However, despite their perceived benefits, wind and solar energy are limited by their intermittency, making them unreliable as the sole power source for a grid system.
One major issue with wind and solar energy is that they are dependent on weather conditions. On sunny days, solar panels can generate a large amount of energy, while their output is significantly reduced on cloudy days. Similarly, wind turbines generate more power during periods of strong wind, while they produce little to no energy during calm weather. This variability in energy production makes it difficult to ensure a steady and reliable power supply, especially during periods of inclement weather.
Additionally, wind and solar energy are most productive during the daytime when the demand for electricity is typically low. However, during peak hours of energy consumption, such as early in the morning and late in the evening, wind and solar energy production tend to be at its lowest. This means that additional power sources must be used to meet the increased demand during these periods, which are known as "peaker" power events.
In these scenarios, thermal energy, generated from sources such as coal, natural gas, or nuclear energy, provides a reliable and steady source of power. These energy sources can quickly ramp up production to meet increased demand during peaker power events, ensuring that the electricity grid remains stable and reliable.
In conclusion, wind and solar energy are currently limited by their intermittency and may not replace reliable thermal energy as the primary source of power. Thermal energy remains a critical component of the energy mix, especially during inclement weather and high-demand periods when a reliable and steady power supply is critical.

Severe Weather Calls for Secure Electricity
Texas has experienced another severe winter storm this year. This is 3 winters in a row. In 2021 many people lost their lives because electricity failed. Last year and this year we did not lose power.
As you can see on the chart in the video, when electricity delivery is the most critical, wind and solar cannot deliver more than 3000 of their installed 50,000 Megawatts of installed capacity. You cannot ramp up wind and solar. You get whatever the weather delivers. It is strictly impossible for unreliable energy from wind and solar to replace the safe and reliable thermal energy that we get from fossil fuels and nuclear.

Crude Oil and Natural Gas Are the Economic Engines
Crude oil and natural gas are the economic engines of the world's economies due to several reasons:

Gardeners Are Especially Aware of the Environment
Gardeners, as a profession or as a hobby, have a unique relationship with the environment. They spend their days working with plants, soil, and other natural elements, and as a result, are especially aware of the delicate balance that exists in nature. They understand the importance of preserving and protecting the environment and strive to make their gardens not only beautiful but also sustainable. Gardeners understand that Carbon fertilization is a process by which plants absorb more carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, leading to increased growth. This can be beneficial for gardeners, as it can lead to healthier and more productive plants.
One of the ways that gardeners are particularly aware of the environment is through their use of natural materials. They often use compost and other organic materials to enrich the soil, rather than relying on chemicals. This not only improves the health of the plants but also helps to reduce pollution and the destruction of natural habitats.
Gardeners also understand the importance of biodiversity. They know that a garden that is filled with a variety of different plants will be healthier and more resilient than one that is dominated by a single species. They also know that a diverse range of plants will attract a wide variety of wildlife, which is essential for maintaining healthy ecosystems.
Another way that gardeners are aware of the environment is through their use of water. They understand that water is a precious resource and that it must be conserved. They use techniques such as mulching, drip irrigation, and rainwater harvesting to reduce the amount of water that is needed to maintain their gardens.
Finally, gardeners are aware of the importance of preserving the environment for future generations. They know that their work has a lasting impact and that they must be mindful of how their actions will affect the environment in the long term. They strive to create gardens that are not only beautiful, but also sustainable, and that will continue to thrive for many years to come.
In conclusion, gardeners are especially aware of the environment. They understand the importance of preserving and protecting nature and strive to create gardens that are both beautiful and sustainable. They use natural materials, promote biodiversity, conserve water, and preserve the environment for future generations. Their awareness and actions demonstrate their love and respect for nature and their role in taking care of it.

CO2 Levels Might Be Dangerously Low
Plants use carbon dioxide (CO2) during the process of photosynthesis, in which they convert light energy into chemical energy, to produce glucose and oxygen. Increased levels of CO2 in the atmosphere can lead to an increase in photosynthetic rate, which can result in an increase in growth and productivity of certain plant species.
When CO2 levels are between 1000-1500 ppm (parts per million), it has been observed that some plant species show an increase in photosynthetic rate and an overall increase in growth and productivity. This phenomenon is known as "CO2 fertilization" effect.
For example, research has shown that some crop plants such as rice, wheat, and corn can benefit from increased CO2 levels and produce more food per unit area. Similarly, some tree species such as pine and eucalyptus have been found to grow faster and taller under high CO2 conditions.
It's worth mentioning that this effect is not uniform across all plant species. Some plants may show no or little response to increased CO2 levels while others may show significant growth enhancement. Also, some studies have shown that the response of plants to higher CO2 concentrations may vary depending on factors such as temperature, water availability, and nutrient levels. Currently, the CO2 levels are reported to be over 400 ppm.
In summary, when CO2 levels are between 1000-1500 ppm, certain plant species may show an increase in growth and productivity due to the CO2 fertilization effect, which is the result of an increase in photosynthetic rate. However, this effect is not uniform across all plant species and depends on other environmental factors.

No Oil Means no Green Renewable Energy
The concept of "no oil means no green renewable energy" refers to the idea that oil and other fossil fuels play a significant role in the production of renewable energy sources. Many renewable energy technologies, such as wind and solar power, rely on the use of oil and other fossil fuels in the manufacturing, transportation, and installation processes. Without access to these fossil fuels, it may be more difficult or expensive to produce and implement renewable energy sources. Additionally, crude oil, natural gas and coal currently provide a substantial portion of the world's energy needs and without them, a transition to green renewable energy would be more difficult.

What Would Happen with No More Fossil Fuels
We hear politicians and other people claim that we will stop drilling for oil. Think ESG and anti-fracking. It is said that about 80 percent of the world’s energy comes from oil, gas and coal.
All those green energy wind turbines and solar panels are made with oil and gas. This means no more heat in the cold, no more cooling in the summer and the world would be one big blackout!
No drilling or fracking means no more transportation like planes, trains and automobiles.
• No more food to eat
• No more healthcare
• No hospitals or medicine.
• No more manufacturing
This would all lead to no more jobs.
The entire world would be in utter chaos.
Nearly everything we do, everything we eat, and everything we have are because someone first drilled an oil and gas well.

Sanctioning Oil and Natural Gas Sanctions Society
Sanctioning oil and natural gas sanctions society in many ways. Here are just five.
1. It could likely lead to an increase in the cost of energy. When energy costs go up the cost of nearly everything goes up which can slow the economy.
2. Sanctions could lead to job losses and the O&G industry has some high-paying jobs.
3. Sanctions could lead to geopolitical tensions as countries that rely heavily on oil and gas exports may face economic difficulties.
4. Rogue regimes don’t comply with rules and typically don’t care about the environment.
5. Sanctions on oil and gas may also increase prices globally and rogue countries may use the extra revenue to support actions that are harmful to America and other Countries.
In summary, sanctioning oil and natural gas could significantly impact society by affecting the economy, employment, geopolitical relations, and the environment while at the same time funding rogue regimes.

Fossil Fuels are More Than Fuel
The label “Fossil Fuels” is a misleading name. When the term Fossil Fuels are used many people think of oil to make gas and diesel for cars and trucks. Or natural gas to make electricity and to heat and cook with. Or coal to make electricity.
Crude oil, natural gas and coal are used in the production of a wide range of products, including the resins used to manufacture electric vehicles (EVs), solar panels, and wind turbines.
One of the primary uses of crude oil, natural gas and coal in the production of these products is in the manufacturing of plastics and other synthetic materials. These materials are used in the construction of various components of EVs, solar panels, and wind turbines. For example, the plastic casings that protect the battery and other electronic components of an EV, the plastic frames that hold solar panels in place, and the plastic blades of wind turbines are all made from synthetic materials derived from crude oil, natural gas and coal.
Additionally, crude oil, natural gas and coal are used as a source of energy in the manufacturing process. The high temperatures required to mold and shape plastics and other synthetic materials are often generated using crude oil, natural gas and coal. The same applies to the production of Solar panels, and wind turbines, which require a high amount of energy to manufacture, and crude oil, natural gas and coal are often used to generate this energy.
Finally, crude oil, natural gas and coal are also used as a feedstock for the production of various chemicals used in the manufacture of solar panels and wind turbines. For example, polysilicon, a key material used in the production of solar cells, is made from silicon tetrachloride, which is derived from silica, a common mineral found in sand and rocks. The process of making silicon tetrachloride from silica requires a large amount of energy, and fuel from coal, oil, and natural gas are used to generate this energy.
In summary, while the end products of EVs, solar panels, and wind turbines are considered as green energy products, their production still has a significant environmental impact due to the use of crude oil, natural gas and coal in the manufacturing process.

Solar and Wind Energy Farms Rely on Thermal Power Plants
Solar and wind energy farms rely on thermal power plants to operate in a few ways:
1. Backup power: Solar and wind power are considered intermittent energy sources because the amount of electricity generated depends on weather conditions. When the sun is not shining or the wind is not blowing, thermal power plants can provide backup power to ensure a steady supply of electricity to the grid.
2. Grid stabilization: Solar and wind power can cause fluctuations in the electrical grid due to their intermittent nature. Thermal power plants can help to stabilize the grid by quickly adjusting their output to match changes in demand.
3. Peaker power: Thermal power plants are often used to provide "peaker power" which is additional power during periods of high demand. This power is used to meet peak loads and to ensure reliability of the grid.
It's worth mentioning that for the integration of renewable energy sources into the grid, it's necessary to have a flexible and robust electricity system, which includes a mix of different energy sources and technologies, including thermal power plants, energy storage, and transmission and distribution infrastructure.
In summary, solar and wind energy farms rely on thermal power plants to provide backup power, stabilize the grid, and provide peaker power, to ensure a steady and reliable supply of electricity to the grid.

The 3 'C's for mineral property Ownership
One of the unique opportunities we have in the good ol’ USA is property rights and that includes Mineral Rights. The subsurface mineral property owner cannot have what I call the 3 Cs; cows, crops or a cabin on the land, unless they get permission from the Surface property owner.
As the owner of subsurface mineral rights, you have the legal right to extract and use any minerals that are located beneath the surface of the land. However, this does not give you the right to use the surface of the land for other purposes, such as grazing cows or growing crops. This is because the surface rights to the land are typically owned by a separate individual or entity. Therefore, you would need to obtain permission from the surface owner if you wanted to use the land for any purpose other than mineral extraction.
Additionally, as the owner of subsurface mineral rights, you do not have the right to build a cabin or any other permanent structure on the property. This is because the right to use the surface of the land for such purposes is also typically owned by a separate individual or entity. Therefore, you would need to obtain permission from the surface owner if you wanted to build a cabin or any other permanent structure on the land. Additionally, you would also need to meet any zoning and building regulations of the local government.
