What you get here are two 11" mini light towers that offer a vast range of preset or variable colour patterns which can be controlled through a smartphone app or by voice through Amazon Alexa or Google Home.

In the box you receive the two light bars connected by a hard-wired cable and with another to provide power from any standard USB socket, also included are stands and wall mounts for each bar together with an excellent full colour user guide. Although they are made from plastic, the build quality seems fine and they seem easily robust enough for daily home use. The stands and wall mounts also seem well made and durable and they can easily be moved and repositioned around the home.

The lights are controlled by the GVoo Home app and this offers a wide range of manual and automatic lighting displays as well as music sensitivity using the built-in microphone. Although I have not tested it myself I believe they will also work with other home automation programs such as the widely used Smart Home app. The Gvoo app is well written and easy to use and although it was reluctant to find my light bar set automatically during the initial setup it was an easy job to select it manually (look for model HCP20514) and then install it.

A vast range of lighting options are available, from simple static single colours to an infinite range of patterns and sequences controlled through the app or linked to music or other sounds detected by the inbuilt microphone. The Gvoo app offers timers and schedules for the display and when the light bars are linked to Alexa or Google then they can be incorporated into routines, alerts and connected to other smart devices.

The light bars are USB powered and although this works well enough it is a pity there is no battery option as the bars are large enough to each accommodate a good sized battery which might also have allowed for a Bluetooth linked fully wire free operation. Of course, they can be powered for extended periods from a powerbank, which does add to their portability.

At £26.99 these lights are only a bit dearer than the simple stick-on LED light strips but are far more versatile, durable and easy to use. For that price, they seem an excellent buy.
