Russian Military Helicopter Mi-28 Shot Down [01.04.2022].
Ukrainian forces reportedly shot down a Russian Mi-28 attack helicopter using the Man-Portable Air Defense System. It is the first visual combat loss of a Mi-28 type helicopter during the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Unfortunately, the exact place and date of the helicopter crash are not known, but a number of sources note that the helicopter was shot down near Kirovsk in the Luhansk region of eastern Ukraine.
The Times is reporting that this shootdown of a Russian Mi-28 was by a British Starstreak SAM.
Dramatic footage shows the moment the Mi-28N is hit by the Starstreak in the Luhansk region of eastern Ukraine.
The Starstreak is the world’s fastest surface-to-air missile and can travel at three time the speed of sound.
Ministry of Defence sources said it’s the first time the missile has been used to bring down a Russian plane.
In the video, the chopper can be seen skimming the treetops before it’s hit in the tail by the Starstreak.
The missile can be seen lifting off through the trees towards its target.
