A Justice Impacted Family Shares Their Experience & Their Story...

In this episode I am talking to Ron Ross and his two sons Vincent Ross, and Patrick Ross and my friend Mina Wilson who is also the VP of our nonprofit The Nowhere To go But Up Project.

I met Ron on a flight from Tampa, Florida to Salt Lake City, Utah. There is a funny story about THC infused ghee butter, coffee, and container pressure that happened just before we met. After speaking for a couple minutes and feeling relieved when I found out Ron owned a dispensary in Medford, Oregon considering what had happened 5 minutes prior with the weed butter.

I was explaining what I did for work and that I had a podcast. I was explaining what the podcast was about and that I started it because of my own story of incarceration. Ron opened up about having two sons that were both in federal prison at one point. We ended up having a great conversation about a bunch of different this revolving around his cannabis business, the podcast, and the nonprofit.

Ron had some great ideas about raising funds for the nonprofit that I thought Mina should hear so we scheduled a Zoom meeting with Ron to have him share his thoughts again with Mina. After getting acquainted and finding some commonalities and he shared some of his story. Mina suggested that I should have all three of them on my show. I said that was a great idea and that she should co-host it with me. So here we are doing just that....

Here is a little bit about Ron:

I was born and raised in Washington, DC and educated by the DC public school system until the 11th grade. I had my first son at 15 and married at 20. I'm still happily married for the last 41 years. Received my undergraduate degree in Chemistry at the University of Maryland, College Park. I have multiple graduate degrees in science and technology. I am a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated. I've worked my entire career in science, technology, Healthcare, and business ownership. I have 4 sons ages 48, 45, 40, and 34.

Why do you feel that your story would be beneficial for other people to hear?

My story involves my sons experiences in life and the penitentiary. My part in the overall story is about planting seeds, being patient, and allowing my young men to grow into the men they have become.
