Before & After! DIY Improving your property! Illinois hunting land transformation!

WOW! Another amazing land management success story! Join us for the full episode & land management transformation of this awesome Southern Illinois land management/food plot/hunting land success story! Today I will cover the entire process of taking this newly created deer food plot and property to new heights and I will share with you the entire process, literally from start to finish! This is my buddy Curtis Roger's 101 acre Southern Illinois hunting property. It started out as overgrown brush, trees, thicket's, stumps, thorn bushes and a tangled mess of natural regen and early successional growth on this beautiful diamond in the rough hunting property. We started this process with some DIY land clearing with Curtis using his Kioti RX6620 and me using my new Bobcat e42 R-2 series mini excavator. This entire process took over 6 months to accomplish, but it is now a deer candy land! We'll go through each of the steps on what it took for us to do this entire DIY land clearing process, and then getting it planted in some corn food plots and fall food plots for deer, just in the nick of time for the 2021 Illinois deer hunting shotgun season! It was a very big undertaking for sure, so after a few days of working on it with Curtis Kioti RX6620 and my bobcat mini excavator, Curtis decided that he needed to make much faster progress for this fall food plot to be ready for deer hunting for the 2021 Illinois deer season! So, he rented a takeuchi mini excavator for 2 weeks, and I brought back my bobcat e42 R-2 series mini excavator and we hit it hard doing land clearing for several days with both excavators. After that, we finally had the new food plot clearing large enough, so we came in with both of our Kioti tractor's and started the soil preparation process, which is another very challenging step when you are dealing with areas that used to be all woods and overgrowth, since there are intensive tree and brush root systems in the ground that need to be removed to get a good soil bed for the first food plot planting. Once we got all the land cleared, Curtis then planted a mix of 4 different grains and a food plot brassica blend to boot. Late summer was kind to him and he got plenty of rain on the newly planted plots. Then on Nov 15, 2021 we hauled a new deer tower back to this newly created food plot for deer and completed the entire vision of what this property could be! Curtis has been too busy to get this stuff done earlier, like we should have, but hey, life is often very hectic so you have to improvise, adapt and overcome time restraints and land management challenges in order to succeed!
