Today's 2009 upstart scheme looks back at PRISM Motorsports, the Cup counterpart of Nationwide series team MSRP Motorsports. Unlike the Nationwide team, the PRISM 66 Cup team would actually attempt to run full races when financially possible. The team debuted at the 2009 Daytona 500 with Texas Terry Labonte behind the wheel, where he would start last and finish 22nd. TL was hired for the use of his Past Champion Provisional. The following week, the team's intended primary driver, Dave Blaney, took over. During the Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway, Blaney showed what the 66 was capable of, qualifying and running up front, including leading a handful of laps before contact with John Andretti ended the teams day early. The 66 would also have a solid weekend at the Charlotte Motor Speedway for the Coca-Cola 600, obtaining sponsorship from Aaron's Rent. The majority of the 2009 season saw the 66 start and park.
