ASHLEY WELLS BACKSTORY:
Ashley Marie Wells, 23, died-after allegedly-intoxicated Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy Daniel Auner jumped a median and crashed his Dodge Charger into a light pole with Wells as the passenger. Wells was the founder of South Bay Conservatives, a group known for protesting along the Esplanade in Redondo Beach over the 2020 pandemic-closing of beaches. Deputy Auner is on paid administrative leave and after four months no criminal charges have been filed.
