On 3/25/22, around 1:00 pm, officers responded to a larceny call at the location of Hartsfield Jackson Airport. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim, Mr. Auslam, who stated he just flew in from Richmond Virginia on Delta Flight #2151 and when he went to pick up his luggage from his flight’s designated carousel, it was missing.

Mr. Auslam filed a claim for his missing luggage and also contacted APD to file a report. he stated the bag contained multiple items of value such as military equipment. The victim also advised the bag has a tracking device and he was able to provide officers real-time GPS coordinates for the bag’s locations. Officers pinged the bag’s location as it appeared to be traveling on a Marta train from Hartsfield Jackson to Dunwoody.

A short time later, the victim, received updated GPS coordinates and was alerted that his bag was now travelling on a Marta train en route back to Hartsfield Jackson Airport. Mr. Auslam immediately alerted police and notified them of the bag’s current coordinates. Officers arrived on scene at the Marta Station at Hartsfield Jackson and met with the victim. The victim led officers to the bag’s location along which appeared on the Marta train. Officers made entry onto the train and immediately identified a male suspect who was in possession of the victim’s bag.

Officers immediately detained the male suspect who was later identified as Stephen Robinson. He was transported back to the airport precinct for processing. Further investigation reveals the suspect, was observed on airport surveillance taking Mr. Auslam’s bag from baggage claim. When officers searched recovered bag following the arrest, they additional stolen items such as clothing that was taken from another passenger/victim. That victim was later identified as Amanda Furr who also reported her bag was stolen on 3/25/22. (The same day as Mr. Auslam).

We are thankful our officers we were able to locate the person responsible for stealing these two victims’ luggage. We need would be thieves at Hartsfield Jackson to understand that the airport has cameras throughout the entire facility, so if you commit a crime while there, not only will we have video of you doing so, but our investigators will track you down, put handcuffs on you, and haul you to jail. It is best to avoid criminal conduct at the airport. This suspect learned that the hard way.

Stephen Robinson was charged with Theft by Taking (2 counts) Removal of Baggage or Freight in Terminal (2 counts) Mr. Robinson was also previously issued a criminal trespass warning from Hartsfield Jackson Airport on 8/13/21. Mr. Robinson was transported to the Clayton County Jail without incident.
