JAPAN'S military forces hold 'firepower drills' in show of strength amid tension around the world.

The 64th Fuji firepower exercise took place at the East Fuji Maneuver Area.

About 3,300 GSDF members from across Japan participated along with 36 tanks and armored vehicles.

The exercise was based on the scenario of defending a remote island by preventing the enemy from landing from the coast and defeating them.

The GSDF's V-22 Osprey took part in the Fuji drill for the first time, transporting members to their destinations.
