On 5/27/22, officers responded to a stolen vehicle while left running at the location of 1929 Peachtree Rd NE. Upon arrival, officers met with the victim who stated his vehicle was stolen while he ran inside the store to buy something. The victim’s spare key and cell phone were still inside the vehicle. Officers immediately gathered lookout information on the stolen vehicle and relayed them to units throughout the city.

The victim was able to track his vehicle’s location via the cellphone that was left inside of it. Officers later located the vehicle nearby traveling along Peachtree Circle. Officers coordinated with the APD air unit and further requested GSP for assistance. Responding GSP units were able to get behind the vehicle and attempt a traffic stop. The suspect driver initially refused to stop and led GSP units on a brief pursuit. During the pursuit, the APD air unit maintained a visual of the stolen vehicle from the air.

Due to heavy traffic in the area, the suspect driver suddenly surrendered and pulled the vehicle over. GSP and APD units conducted a felony stop from a safe distance and brought the suspect into custody. The accused was identified as: Nicholas Williams (DOB 7/93) He was charged with: Theft by Taking and Fleeing/Eluding Police Officers. He was transported to the Fulton County Jail without incident.

We would like to Thank and Commend the APD A.C.E. Unit, Zone 2, GSP and the APD Air Unit on a collaborative effort on a job well done. We’d also like to remind citizens of Atlanta to always lock your doors, turn your vehicle off and take your keys with you when your vehicle is unattended. Let’s not provide criminals an easy opportunity to steal your vehicle or possessions left inside.
