HOW TO INCREASE SOIL MICROBES? A SOIL SCIENTISTS VIEW ON SOIL BUGS | Gardening in Canada
Wonder how to increase soil microbes? This video about increasing soil microbes is important because soil microbes actually help cycle nutrients. Essentially free fertilizer
Imagine a pinch a soil that weights no more than a paper clip. That soil contains:
* 3,000,000 to 500,000,000 bacteria
* 1,00,000 to 20,000,000 actinomycetes
* 5,000 to 1,000,000 fungi
* 1,000 to 500,000 protozoa
* 1,000 to 500,000 algae
* 10 to 5,000 nematodes
1. food and most of all they want sugar.
2. Cover crops - this is going to change the rhizosohere, moisture controls, and depending on your crop adding in nutrients.
3. Moisture- and this is important the wrung out sponge dampness
4. No till - a few trains of thought here none absolute. first being tillage amplifies compaction due to aggregates being torn apart this means less oxygen. Initial tillage means more oxygen and then a growth explosion including weeds.
5. Mulch you can’t mulch and cover crop.
6. Pesticides, fungicides, fertilizers I disagree
