Thunder Bay Police have released body cam footage from a water rescue.

Over the weekend a call came in about a suicidal woman in distress at Kaministiquia River Heritage Park just before 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 5.

When police arrived they saw the woman throw herself into the water, an officer followed her into the water in an effort to rescue her.

Other responding officers used a rope to assist and get the woman to a nearby ladder to safely extricate her from the water.

The woman was brought to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for further evaluation and treatment.
