Many are aware of who Nicodemus is in the Bible. After all John chapter three is the one where we first read about him. How he went to Jesus by night for a private meeting. Where Jesus spoke solely about being born again.

When he enters into where Jesus was staying, he says, "Rabbi, we know thou art a teacher come from God for no man can do the miracles that thou doest except God be with him." Notice he said "we" though he came alone. Jesus only spoke to him about salvation.

This "master of Israel" was a member of the highest ruling counsel in Israel called the Sanhedrin. Yet in that time he spent that night with Jesus, he became like a little child and marveled. We do not hear about him again until later when he was standing up for Christ in the Sanhedrin.

Something was happening to Nicodemus. His meeting with Jesus that night was penetrating. The power of the Holy Spirit filling the room. There was no one that got around the person of Jesus without the Presence of the Holy Spirit affecting them.

We hear about Nicodemus the third time after Jesus gave up the ghost and died on the cross. Now we see Nicodemus coming into the room of Pontius Pilate with Joseph of Arimathea boldly asking for the body of Jesus. They were given permission to take His body down from the cross. We read that Nicodemus then came with 100 pounds of burial spices.

These men wound the body of Jesus with those spices but not the entire 100 pounds of the spices. Only so much could fit within the bandages. It is noted that there were about 75 pounds left of those spices. Which a couple of the best theologians purport say they laid His body on. Or either laid those spices around the tomb. Therefore causing Jesus burial chamber to be filled up with a thick aroma of those spices after being sealed.

That same Nicodemus who came to Jesus by night, now boldly and openly comes by day. He came first at night to the living Jesus, then by day to his crucified Messiah. I believe Nicodemus received salvation afterwards and was born again.

Then when when it came time for him to die he entered into the light of Christ's glory forever. Into "a city whose builder and Maker is God." This is what happens to those who go out of their way to get to Jesus and becoming like little children. Once they do, they are never the same ever again. Be like Nicodemus. Be born again and enter into your eternal life.

"The moment we recognize our complete weakness and our dependence upon Him will be the very moment that the Spirit of God will exhibit His power." ~Oswald Chambers
