VIDEO DESCRIPTION
During the Market Revolution, the United States started to develop rapidly and industry grew. Roads, railroads, and canals made it easier to move from state to state and to the western territories. As more people settled in the west, they started creating states. However, this brought controversy. Should the new states be free states or slave states? This brought about the Missouri Crisis which divided the country between the North and the South. Shortly after the Missouri Crisis, a presidential election shook the nation. John Quincy Adams versus Andrew Jackson brought about what became to be known as the "Corrupt Bargain." John Quincy Adams would become the president but not for long. Andrew Jackson spent four years preparing to oust him, and oust him he would do. This would bring the beginning of the Era of Jackson.
