King Salmon Fishing In The Rain / Getting Owned By Huge King Salmon / Drifting Spawn Bags For Kings

In this video we are drifting spawn bags for kings at night in the rain. I forgot my rain jacket and regretted it a lot I had to leave for a change of close and come back at one point lol. I was so cold I kept saying if i dont get a bite in 5 minutes ill go and I kept hooking up or being the net man for my buddy Jason. The king salmon action was almost non stop but as soon as I wasn't moving my temp would drop and the shivers would make it hard to fish lol. This was just one nigh of our 4 day trip fishing for king salmon on The Betsie River. We planned on fishing the Platte River, Bear Creek and The Betsie but the action was so good on the Betsie we spent most of our 4 days fishing for Betsie River King Salmon. We are both newbs when it comes to fishing for king salmon but you learn the king salmon fishing ropes real quick on The Betsie River. We both lack proper King Salmon fishing gear but we didnt let that stop us from catching some epic king salmon! I used my 6'6" medium action Abu Garcia Vendetta fishing rod and Jason used his 7 foot medium Abu Garcia Vengence rod and we lost plenty of salmon but managed to land some huge kings including a few that were an inch or 2 short of being master angler King Salmon. We both noticed our reels were never the same. Stay tuned as I still have several videos worth of king salmon fishing madness from this trip. We definitely got owned by a bunch of huge king salmon this night but the next day we both got limits and released plenty of nice King Salmon :)

For more King Salmon Fishing Michigan action be sure to subscribe! I have several salmon fishing videos comming out soon. Whether you are fishing The Muskegon river or the Pere Marquette River or the Manistee River or the Betsie river or the Grand River. There are kings waiting to try to spool you so go get em!

Massive runs of Chinook and silver Coho salmon ascend the Muskegon, Pere Marquette, and Manistee River from later September through the peak of October. These fish typically range from 12 to 16 pound class, with several approaching the 20 to 30 pound mark. Present in all the Great Lakes, the best fishing is in Lake Michigan and significant stream fishing occurs all along the Lake Michigan coast with some of the better inland stream fishing in the Manistee, Pere Marquette and St. Joseph Rivers.

Preferring somewhat cooler water temperatures than coho, they are usually caught in deeper water in the Great Lakes. Somewhat photo-sensitive, Chinooks can be caught near the surface in low-light conditions, but are often targeted in deeper water once the sun has climbed into the sky, by anglers using downriggers and lead-core or copper line to get spoons, dodgers and flies or cut bait rigs down to the strike zone. It isn't unusual to catch Chinooks 100 or more feet down.

Chinooks begin their upstream migration in late summer and are usually present in catchable numbers by mid August. They are pursued by river anglers with all manner of artificial baits -- spoons, spinners and plugs – as well as with spawn, fished on the bottom in bags or in chunks of cut skein under a bobber.

Reel Michigan Anglers is a personal passion and my gift to fellow fisherman. In the future I hope to do more informational fishing videos and cover different types of fishing all across the great state of Michigan. My goal, time permitting is to fish as many different bodies of water for as many different fish species as I can get try hands on. I am a lansing michigan resident working towards transferring to MSU for Fisheries and wildlife. My goal is to expand operations and bring more educational and entertaining fishing videos to my subscribers. In the meantime you can count on me for the occasional video outlining the the techniques and areas I fish for Bass, Pike, Walleye, Steelhead, Salmon, Trout, Carp, Suckers, Catfish and Panfish ect. You can see additional videos and other fun fishing related info on my facebook page https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?... I Wouldn't be the fisherman I am today without other fisherman who taught me the things I know and I am a firm believer that the sport and conservation of fishing in Michigan is better when we share it with one another. Wether your trying to lean a new spot to fish, a new crank bait to try, advise on what fishing rod to use, what fishing line to use, what color spinner a coho likes, what color jig a steelhead prefers, how to rig live bait, match the hatch, understand fish migration, the effects of barometric pressure or any other aspect of fishing the best way to learn is from other fisherman. That combined with trial and error and pure time spent on the water is the key to improving your fishing game. The better you get the more fun it is and the more we share the fun with others the more future generations will benefit from it.
