Bugling and Jousting Elk in Pennsylvania

The video below was taken in Benezette Pennsylvania. The Elk are not eastern Elk, they are extinct. These elk are the descendants of a small herd imported to Pennsylvania (PA) from Wyoming in the early 1900s. Some sources say the PA elk herd numbers about 1400 here in PA. Benezette might be the best place to see Elk on the east coast. If you choose to go, I strongly recommend October. It is mating season and the bulls are jousting and bugling. The rain and cold is not the best camping weather, but it is the time to go see the Elk because the cold draws the bull elk out into the fields. You can hear the bull elk bugling in the background. It is an eerie sound.
