104 Year Old Farm House Made Out of Stone! May Soon Be Gone.

Another roadside find! This old house is only a few miles from me and I've passed it many times. It's a farmhouse built in 1917 of stones and mortar. The house is very solid and in remarkably good condition, especially considering it is 104 years old. It is on just under thirty-four acres of land with the former fields behind it. There is a subdivision that adjoins the south side of the property, and I suspect it may have been part of the original property. There is also a barn, storage building, and well house. A unique feature of this home is that the original well is attached to the house on the back porch.

The former owner was a veteran of World War II having served in the Army Medical Corps. After his honorable discharge, he worked as a carpenter and became a contractor building numerous commercial projects and custom homes around the county. He also raised cattle, hogs, grew a garden, and hunted and fished. He passed away in 2020 at the age of 103. He was no longer living in this house at the time.

It appears the house is being salvaged which means it may be ultimately demolished to make way for another development. The windows have all been carefully removed along with some lighting fixtures and the island in the kitchen. The property was sold after the owner's death last year to a property investment group in Atlanta. While filming, I notice a number of survey markers at several places on the property breaking it up into several sections. Even though it's unlikely, I hope the plan is to replace the original windows with more modern windows and restore this old home rather than destroy it.

While I was filming this video, I came across some skeletal remains. You'll have to watch the video to see what it was! 😆 I also found what looked like a grave even though it looked like it was a bit too long to be a grave.
