Christ Crucified

1 Corinthians 1:23 "But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness..."

They had One Message. One Sermon. They Preached CHRIST...

The Message was plain and simple. Christ and Him crucified.

It wasn't hard to understand - It was not a difficult, technical thing... It wasn't a religion of man's efforts, or good works, or a religion of complicated rituals, traditions and ceremonies.

What did they preach? We hear, of Philip… Acts 8:5, 35 Philip "preached Christ unto them."

His Message was Christ - Not: Prosperity, Holy Laughter - Not Legalism, Tradition, Dead Theology.

Life changing Truth: The Saviour. The Lifechanger.

They would not stop. Acts 5:42 "And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ."

CHRIST and HIM CRUCIFIED...

This is our message. THE CROSS: Here is where the Christian life begins - at the Cross...

Our emphasis, our priority - our focus is the same message: Christ crucified.

WHAT Was the Cross FOR?

BY THE CROSS... WE CAN RECEIVE GOD'S PLAN FOR MAN:

Here’s how He shows His great Love toward us: "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8)

Here’s how we can know GOD'S PEACE: The peace of God which passeth all understanding…
Peace in heart and mind and soul.

He "...made peace through the blood of his cross" (Colossians 1:20)

He’s extended GOD'S PARDON: Full Forgiveness is available, by His grace.

"In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace." (Ephesians 1:7)

BY THE CROSS WE CAN BECOME... GOD'S PROPERTY:

He owns us - He's paid an awesome price... "the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood." (Acts 20:28)

By His precious blood we're brought close; we become His children "But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. (Ephesians 2:13)

We are the reason for Christ crucified.

It was FOR OUR SINS: "Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures" (1 Corinthians 15:3)

"Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness..." (1 Peter 2:24)

"Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows... But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised tor our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed." (Isaiah 53:4-5)

We can have forgiveness. We can know a wholeness, now.

We're living in an age of Information and Knowledge... - Lots of things we can know about - what is it that really matters? - what really counts...

The believers were a School with one Subject. Christ was the Subject, and Christ the Teacher.

Paul says: 1 Corinthians 2:2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

It is not what you know - it's Who you know.

The Bible says that Knowledge puffs up — Some will parade around and show off their knowledge.
Some highly qualified people are, like the Bible says, “ever learning, but never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.”

Our faith is not a "know about Him" - but to actually Know Him. We can come as a little child. We can come to Know Him - Personally know Him - in a wonderful, meaningful, Personal Relationship.
Life is meaningless without knowing the Saviour. There's many subjects to learn in the school of life. What matters is that we know Him.

We can know more and more about the Lord Jesus. It's a tremendous, growing relationship.
If we’re saved we’ve got reason to sing.

We have…
ONE SERMON – To tell of Him
ONE SUBJECT – To know Him
ONE SONG – To love Him. Do we?
