The latest news for the Andaman Sea, Thailand. Divergent Boundary Earthquakes are occurring. The tectonic plates are subject to spread with the increase and magnitude of the earthquakes. This is not a subduction zone. In this case, the plates could spread. There is also a nearby fault system where the plates can rub and slide against each other (Transform Boundary (transform fault).

*See updates below in the description.*

Here are the boundary definitions so you can be aware of the terms:

Plate Boundaries:

Convergent Boundary (Plate Collision)
Divergent Boundary (Spreading Ridges)
Transform Boundary (Transform Fault)

All earthquakes are from the 4.0 magnitude range to near the 5.0 magnitude range. This is considered on the ocean ridge. This can be a very deep geology topic and this is happening in more than one area on the planet at this time.

Several more earthquakes have occurred in the region since this video. Earthquakes were occurring as the description was being typed and prior to uploading this video. USGS earthquake information should reflect this earthquake information as well. Some are considered an India earthquake and some are considered a Thailand earthquake.

The earthquakes that have occurred on or near the Andaman Sea (Near Thailand) plate boundary are:

3.8 Magnitude Earthquake
4.6 Magnitude Earthquake
4.7 Magnitude Earthquake
4.2 Magnitude Earthquake
4.7 Magnitude Earthquake
4.6 Magnitude Earthquake
4.5 Magnitude Earthquake
4.4 Magnitude Earthquake
4.2 Magnitude Earthquake
4.1 Magnitude Earthquake
4.4 Magnitude Earthquake
4.9 Magnitude Earthquake
4.3 Magnitude Earthquake
4.9 Magnitude Earthquake
4.4 Magnitude Earthquake

The total numbers for the entire region including the Divergent area:

Earthquakes below 2.0 are listed in total number only (update since video):

Past 24 hours:
22 quakes
1 quake 3.0 magnitude or higher
21 quakes 4.0 magnitude or higher

Past 7 days:

87 quakes 3.0 magnitude or higher
151 quakes 4.0 magnitude or higher
8 quakes 5.0 magnitude or higher
1 quake 6.0 magnitude or higher

**Update up to 27 earthquakes for the region. This video is scheduled to air at 9 pm, CST, on July 4, 2022. Will keep adding updates. These earthquakes aren't far from the Andaman-Nicobar Ridge.

*At the time the video was recorded, there were only 15 earthquakes showing. The earthquakes are continuing even as a description of this video is being typed. Remember, this is offshore from Thailand.

It was recently discovered there is an Andaman Basin Central Fault Zone along with the Divergent Boundaries. The earthquakes are all in this general area. The research I've conducted shows there are characteristics of a major deepwater strike-slip fault system in a polyphase rift. This can be verified in the ResearchGate link below from the Chiang Mai and Chulalongkorn Universities Authors:

Stay safe. Our planet is the most important thing to us. I'm not a geologist and did not major in geology, yet I am a Passionate Devoted Student of the Planet and its condition. As I learn, I passionately share.

This is the latest news and breaking news on Andaman Sea Earthquakes on the Divergent Boundaries and Transform Boundaries. Near the beautiful Andaman Nicobar Islands known for scuba diving.
