The op-ed lambasted Trudeau for policies like the vaccine mandates that trapped unvaccinated Canadians in their country and the shutting down of bank accounts of protesters who participated in the Freedom Convoy under the Emergencies Act. Rav did not expect Justin Trudeau’s administration to respond in the way that it did. Rav explains why an independent free press is difficult to sustain in Canada and the threats of Western authoritarianism.
