Were Darth Maul and Darth Talon in the George Lucas Sequel Trilogy?

Details have emerged that suggest George Lucas was going to use Darth Maul and Darth Talon as the protagonists for the sequel trilogy.

The STAR WARS Archives 1999 - 2005 book releasing in late November 2020, has some interesting notes and interviews suggesting Darth Maul and Darth Talon were a part of the George Lucas sequel trilogy treatments.
