I purchased Guy Fawkes 18/P3., Guy Fawkes Ava when the government used the drought as an excuse to slaughter wild horses in Australia. It was my pledge to help our brumbies. She is one of several brumbies I own.
Since then we have been devastated with bush fires and the national parks were closed to the public, followed quickly by a country lockdown due to COVID 19. In this time that the public has not had access to the parks, they have been trapping and killing our wild horses. They have also gotten laws overturned to allow the wholesale slaughter of our brumbies in some areas of Australia, which will soon follow the slaughter of all brumbies.
I'm frightened it's the end of our horses.

PLEASE INTERVENE AND STOP THE MASS SHOOTING OF BOGONG HIGH PLAINS AND EASTERN ALPS BRUMBIES SCHEDULED FOR

I am writing to ask that you intervene to stop the intended mass shooting of Bogong High Plains and Eastern Alps Brumbies SCHEDULED FOR 18th May 2020
I want to see our Heritage Brumbies conserved and protected with Legislation. This proposed bloodbath is now receiving international attention and the State Government of Victoria must not continue with this action which will earn it a reputation for its inhumane cruelty and the destruction of Victoria’s Heritage Brumby bloodlines.
Nobody knows how many Brumbies survived the bush fires because no numbers count has been taken. Parks Victoria claims of thousands of Brumbies in the Alps cannot be relied upon, and alternatives to shooting exist and have been put forward, and must be properly considered.
The proposed sniper shooting has potential to be a bloodbath as frightened brumbies will be taken by surprise and Brumbies will scatter, mares in foal will be shot with many lingering injured overnight and suffering, foals at foot will be crushed and stallions will try to protect their mob.
During the development of a management plan, Parks Victoria guaranteed that no Brumbies would be shot, and any change would only be undertaken with community consultation.
This has not happened!
Please, intervene and stop this cruel and unnecessary action from taking place which is moving forward after the public has been misled by Parks Victoria.
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am absolutely appalled by the decision regarding the oncoming cull of our beautiful Alpine Brumbies. The Science reports are flawed and at the time of the court case commencement we had not gone through that horrific wild fires that in our opinion wiped out over 50% of our wild horses. Therefore, would that not account for the goal wanting to be achieved of 50%?
We are totally devastated. The ancestors of these horses carried our men into battle in the Boer, WWI and WWII. WWI being the most infamous of them with the charge at Beersheba at full gallop for miles jumping the Turkish/German fox holes and severing the German communication lines. It was a major turning point in the war. Our wild horses carry with them at the genetic level a connection of these amazing sturdy and resilient horses.
These horses are NOT responsible for the damage of which they are accused.They are the scapegoats and an easy target. For a mega fauna these animals leave minimal footprint, pigs leave a deeper foot impression on the ground for a third of the weight.
PLEASE HELP STOP THIS CARNAGE! Passive trapping and retaining and rehoming as per FIRST PRIORITY MUST TAKE PRECEDENCE AS PER VIC PARK POLICIES.
