At least 5 dead in attack on prison in Nigeria's capital, hundreds of prisoners escape. At present, 600 prisoners have been recovered, and the whereabouts of the detained Boko Haram militants are unknown.
A spokesman for the Nigerian prison administration said that the militants used explosives on the evening of the 5th to blow up the gate of a prison in the southwestern suburbs of Abuja and exchanged fire with prison guards.
The Nigerian Ministry of Defense stated that the attack may have been carried out by the extremist organization "Boko Haram". After the incident, all 64 "Boko Haram" militants detained in the prison were missing.
The Nigerian Prison Administration issued a statement on the 6th that the prison where the incident occurred has resumed management order.
