Taliban militants enter presidential palace hours after Afghan president flees
According to the Beijing News, after the Taliban arrived in Kabul, the Afghan president fled elsewhere. Subsequently, the Taliban captured the presidential palace and exposed: everyone held a long gun.
The Taliban issued a statement saying that due to the withdrawal of government troops from parts of Kabul, the Taliban officially entered the area to avoid unrest. In addition, the Taliban also appealed to the local people not to panic.
As we all know, since the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan, the Taliban has launched a violent retaliation. When the U.S. military was there, the Taliban had nothing to do. When the U.S. military left, the Afghan government army was even more powerless to deal with it. So far, the Taliban have captured more than half of the cities and successfully entered the capital Kabul and occupied the presidential palace. The Taliban captured the presidential palace and exposed: everyone held a long gun and took down the national flag.
More critically, the Taliban also controlled the TV station and publicly called on the public to remain calm and not be afraid. The Taliban spokesman mentioned in the statement that the Afghan security forces have resigned and the Taliban will officially enter Kabul to maintain local order.
Abdullah, an Afghan official, has publicly admitted that Ghani's departure from Afghanistan is a thing of the past. At the same time, he also called on the people to calm down, asked the Afghan government to cooperate to ensure local security, and hoped to allow more time for negotiations.
