I live for fishing Michigan rivers! Northern Pike River Fishing with Mepps Spinners is my main gig till salmon and steelhead season rolls around. Pike fishing Michigan is extremely rewarding fishing because pike are almost as abundant as smallmouth in the river but they get huge and put up excellent fights. In my area it is common to hook into Northern Pike in the 30-36 inch range. As a side note if you haven't caught a northern pike over 30 inches you have not experienced the great fight a pike can offer. The fish in this video range from 26-35 inches by my guess witch is usually pretty good.

In this video you will find tips on things like How to fight a pike, how to land a pike without a net, how to set drag for big fish and play a pike out till it is tired enough to not rip your hands off while you are unhooking them. If your looking for Big summer northern pike than Mepps Spinners are a great go to lure. Lots of color and models to chose from but anything size 4 or 5 will be ideal unless you are in super shallow water. Bright colors like fluorescent yellow and orange or pink, Silver gold blade or Black fury's are my preference.

Michigan pike fishing might seem like the stuff of legends depending on where you live but I believe Northern Pike are the most underrated sport fish in Michigan. people seem to hate them cause they eat all the walleye or steal all their expensive lures. I think they fight better than bass and are way more aggressive. They can be quite acrobatic if you try to horse them in like I do. Im sure they taste better than a bass too lol. Ive never eaten either because why eat a fish when you can eat a cow? If I ever go fishing and catch a cow you bet your butt Ill keep it and eat it all! Thight lines Michigan fisherman!
