Lioness Crosses A River To Feed Her Cubs | Archive Lion Footage

Archive footage of a lioness from the Ximhungwe lion pride taking an impala across the Sand river to her two male cubs. The lioness had taken the impala from a leopard - the noise and commotion created by the leopards initial catch had attracted the lioness (and us) and she arrived before the leopard had a chance to take the meal up a tree. Our arrival was in tie to see the leopard flee (off camera) and then witness the lioness take the impala through the bush and down to the river. The lioness then called her two male cubs (known as the MiniPogs as they were sired by the Mapogo lion coalition) to come to join her. the two lion cubs were afraid to cross the water so the lioness crossed the river with the impala so they could all feed. this sighting happened back in 2011 and a much shorther version of this clip has appeared previously on this channel now you can watch the entire archive footage!

Filmed in the Sabi Sand Nature Reserve, Greater Kruger National Park, South Africa
