"If you cannot decide between a 6 or 8 inch, let me do you a favor, get the 8 inch. I was that guy for a long time before finally deciding on the 8 inch. So glad I did, can't believe I waited so long.
That being said, if you are new to jointing, there will be a learning curve, where and when to apply pressure is an art form (in my opinion). The spiral cutting head is a must, it makes really nice cuts with little to no rough cuts.
The jointer table came already aligned, I double checked though. The most time was spent on getting the fence perfectly aligned but when you finally hit that sweet spot you are ready to joint."
