It is time for a NEW Constitution

Constitution Day 2022 Post

It is time for a more robust US Constitution.

The US Constitution and the American people’s adherents to it have advanced the global human condition more than any other document and collective will in human history. Over the last 100 years, the Americans’ support of liberty and limited government has diminished. The result is a US Constitution that is violated significantly. Over 70% of US Government spending and 90% of US regulations and laws are not allowed by the US Constitution. Congress and the President create new violations monthly while cementing older violations as standard practice. The Supreme Court failed at its job of protecting the US Constitution.

This new proposed Constitution replaces the current Constitution but retains the essential safeguards. It has real structural power to limit government and protect civil liberties. It retains a separation of power in the three branches and goes significantly further in the division of power. It replaces representation from the winner of elections to YOUR selection of YOUR representative; just join 5% of your fellow citizens. Additionally, every citizen selects their representative in each of 30 distinct Sectors of government. The federal government will have control of about 5% of GDP, down from over 25%.

The most significant addition to advancing liberty is the creation of Competitive Governance. Sure, a few areas of government need to be across the board, like whether to go to war or creating violent crime laws. Everything is addressed in the proposed Constitution. Every citizen selects their government and then votes with their fellow members for the leadership of that government. A Competitive government ONLY governs its members. Governance is all-inclusive such as taxes, benefits, regulations, and bureaucracy.

This set of reforms creates competitive school boards, competitive healthcare systems, competitive retirement planning governance, competitive roads, as well as competitive almost everything else. This proposal creates competitive police and competitive military, both with significant societal oversight and civil liberty protections. This system retains a mandate for citizens to help the poor but moves that mandate from taxes to the current government to a mandate to donate to the competitive Charity System. Competitive governments can be libertarian to socialist in nature.

This proposed constitution is about 14,000 words compared to 4,400 of the current constitution. Those extra words limit monopolized governmental power.
