Modernization of Trains | The Resurgence of Railroads
1 year ago
30
The 1980's and 90's saw the resurgence of railroads with The Staggers Rail Act heavily deregulating railroads and allowing them to become more profitable. This era saw the rise in rail giants like Burlington Northern, Union Pacific, CSX, Amtrak, and more. This was also when Steam Excursions started to become popular and several notable engines made trips around the country. By the early 2000's the railroads had finally regained their position and still see high profits to this day.
