In this video we are King Salmon fishing at night. Some people believe salmon are easier to snag at night others believe they are simply less spooked at night and therefore more willing to bite. The truth is Salmon are extra active just before and just after sunrise ant these active fish who often just moved up river under the cover of darkness, are the most likely fish to actually bite your presentation. the 2 things that seem to get salmon to bite consistently for me are skein and 14 millimeter beads. Glow beads get bit especially when you light them up with uv and squeeze on some egg scent.

Bead fishing for king salmon isn't the most common technique amoung salmon fisherman but it works and it works well! Bead fishing is a great alternative to fishing with spawn bags and or skein which is messy and requires preparation and proper care and storage if you don't want it to go bad. Beads work well for king salmon but not just any bead. King salmon fishing in Michigan is something I look forward to every year but I am always so excited to move on to fishing for coho with hardware and float fishing for fall steelhead as soon as the opportunity arises but it is fun to get your rod bent by a big Michigan king salmon especially if you hook into a fresh chrome king salmon. It doesn't get much better than that in terms of tug!
