The National Hurricane Center said Hurricane Ian is "rapidly intensifying" and is nearing Category 5 strength. At 9:00 a.m., the NHC said hurricane hunters found maximum sustained winds to be 155 miles an hour. Category 5 begins at 157 miles an hour.
