Had to reload Episode #19 for a mistake that was caught. Thank you for your understanding.

Black Lives Matter was founded in 2014 after the murder of Trayvon Martin at the hands of George Zimmerman. In 2020, at the height of the pandemic, a gentleman by the name of George Floyd was suffocated to death by former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin. The organization Black Lives Matter (BLM) came into prominence and started receiving donations at an unprecedented rate while leading protests throughout the United States & abroad.
But, in 2021, rumors of co founder Patrisse Cullours using funds for personal use started making waves. This includes a $6 million property in Los Angeles, which included a seven-bedroom mansion, a pool, a soundstage and a garden. In 2022, more rumors of i.proper use of funds surfaced as 26 chapters sued BLM's Shalomyah Bowers, a leader in the organization for "siphoning” millions of dollars from the group into his own “personal piggy bank.”
My question is has it ever been about "black lives" or was this always just a get rich quick scheme?
