Did you know that when your mouth is on fire after biting into a ghost pepper, it's all in your mind? Your tongue is only IMAGINING that it's on fire, but it's not really burning. It's the capsaicin in the pepper that is playing tricks on you.

Peppers are rated from mild and sweet to intolerable heat on a scale called the Scoville Pepper Scale. Knowing the Scoville pepper rating for the particular pepper plant you want to grow is a great starting point!
