I recorded this video at the Chattanooga Zoo in Tennessee on October, 2022. This video is of the Giant Anteater display. It was very special to have such an amazing creature parade itself just a couple of feet away.

Below is a portion of information found on the Chattanoogan website about the Anteaters exhibit at the Chattanooga Zoo. Here is a link to the site for additional information:

Her name is Betsy. Betsy the Giant Anteater was a new exhibit in Febuary of 2019. Betsy’s display has an indoor holding and keeper facility, a sizable outdoor habitat with a pond, and numerous public viewing locations for people to witness the gentle giant.

The Chattanooga Zoo boosted its conservation efforts in addition to growing its animal collection and exhibitory to aid in saving the giant anteater in the wild.

As part of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums' Species Survival Plan, Betsy was relocated from the Brookfield Zoo in Chicago, Illinois. The SSP is a population management program that looks after particular species at AZA-accredited facilities to help them remain in the wild. Officials from the zoo aim to soon pair Betsy with a suggested breeding male through the SSP.

Mammals that eat insects include giant anteaters. They can weigh up to 140 pounds and reach a length of up to 7 feet from the tip of their snout to the end of their tail. Giant anteaters' noses are their most useful tool because they have poor hearing and vision. Their two foot long tongues and tubular snouts enable them to access small crevices where ants and insects may be hiding. Given that its population is currently dropping daily, the gigantic anteater is currently regarded as vulnerable.
