Darby Keaton loved life but most of all…she loved the people in her life. Andrew Keaton was the love of her life and her husband as well.

Although he often gave the impression he was a self-centered male chauvinist, Darby had always seen through his rough edges to the wonderful man her was on the inside. Her mother, Grace, and best friend, Sandy, did not share the love. In fact, far from it.

Once a writer and reporter for the local Portland newspaper, Andrew had convinced Darby to quit her job and freelance online jobs from home.

Not only did it free her time up so that she could look after his wants and needs, but it also freed her up for some much-needed vacation time as well.

Darby and Andrew set off to explore the beautiful Mayan ruins in Belize. The city intrigued them. Where had the civilization vanished to? What secrets did the lost city hold of the people of old who once lived there?

The couple returned home from the trip with more than just memories and souvenirs, they soon discover they had conceived a child during the heartfelt time together. Janis came into the world nine months later with big blue eyes and a smile that lit up the room. She was Darby’s heart and soul and Andrew’s pride and joy.

Grace was thrilled with the addition to the family and visited more than Andrew liked for her to. Together with Darby’s best friend and their next-door neighbor, Sandy, Grace gave Andrew a hard time about everything, especially his lack of helping Darby out with the new baby. By the time Janis was six-months-old, Darby was exhausted.

She struggled to care for her teething, colicky baby while shielding her grumpy husband from such inconveniences as being kept up by the baby’s crying.

She knew his high-paying, demanding job was stressful to him so she strived to make home life as comfortable as possible. But her body just wouldn’t hold up to all her heart wanted to do for Andrew, Janis, and the others in her life. Hold on to your heart as you go through the rigors of medical incidences that led to the discovery of the heartbreaking reason why Darby could not hold up. Would Darby’s death sentence be the end of her life or could she reach beyond her humanity and find a way to leave a lasting legacy for those she loved?

What would you do if you had only weeks to live? What would you leave behind for your six-month-old baby and those you love? Faced with the choice between anger, heart-wrenching sorrow, and the chance to leave the world a better place, find out how this young wife and mother dealt with impending death as the clock ticked and she…slipped away.
