Extraordinary Coffee Experience - Saigon The Café Apartments

Hello everyone,
we are in Ho Chi Minh City district 1.

Today I want to try the famous egg coffee.
But not from any café, but from a café in the famous Café Apartments.

But before we find the egg coffee, I want to briefly tell the story of the building and why you should visit this place as soon as possible.

The Café apartments is a 9-storey old apartment building located in one of the busiest parts of Saigon district 1, converted into apartment businesses, standing out among the other buildings both in daytime and in the night.

People are still living in some of those apartments as normal residentials, but the building is also housing everything from restaurants, coffee shops, tea houses, fashion boutiques, beauty parlors and even a co-working office and other businesses.

It was built in the mid-60´s and back in the days it even housed American officers and high-ranking officials working for the South Vietnam government until the post-war period.
After the fall of Saigon, some of the apartments were given to shipyard workers. And as the city grew and developed into what it is today, touristy and busy, the tenants started renting out the apartments to businesses.

But it was and still is illegal - according to Vietnam’s law on residential spaces it is illegal to conduct business in apartment units. However, it appears that local authorities are in no rush to evict the businesses. BUT all the businesses inside might get evicted at any moment, and that is why you should visit this place while you still can.

And now let’s check out how they make an egg coffee.

The egg coffee was such an interesting experience, very delicious and something you would have as a treat after a lunch or dinner and could be enjoyed as a dessert in my opinion, because it´s so thick, sweet and creamy.

Now look, little did I know that I would end up in this café because it started raining, it´s located on the 4th floor in the same building.
Because they played music, I can only share the footage with no sound, but I still want to show you how the experience was with no sound.

But in here I had my very first exceptional specialty coffee experience, I experienced the Panamanian Geisha coffee, costing me 26USD, but I had to try it, and I don’t regret it.
If you love coffee, you owe yourself a visit to this bar to experience a well brewed specialty coffee enjoying it together with the bar owner who will guide you through the experience as a true coffee connoisseur.

I didn´t know that a coffee experience could be this beautiful, but now I know.
