Abbas Just Threatened Terror Attacks?
It’s hard to believe we have to report this in 2022, but the leader of the Palestinian Authority (PA) just announced to the world that he’s not opposed to using terrorism to get his way. We’ve told you how the PA incentivizes terrorists to kill Israeli citizens – and American troops – through its pay for slay program. We helped shut down the sending of U.S. funds to the PA during Trump’s presidency, but now thanks to President Joe Biden, the U.S. is once again sending your tax dollars to reward terrorists.
Now the president of the PA, Mahmoud Abbas, has made it clear in his statements that a return to terrorism is still indeed on the table:
"Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas indicated the Palestinian Authority may turn to terrorism, saying 'armed resistance' against Israel could commence any day.
'I do not endorse armed resistance at the moment, but I may change my mind later,' President Mahmoud Abbas said in a recent Arabic-language interview translated into English on the Elder of Zion website, a blog that tracks Israeli-Palestinian issues. 'I do not adopt military resistance at this time, but it is possible that I change my mind tomorrow or after tomorrow, or any time.'"
This is a thinly-veiled threat. Nothing less. And you may not know this but the ACLJ has an office in Jerusalem, which we opened after we helped move the United States Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, the rightful capital of the State of Israel. Israel and her allies must stand up to bullies and terrorists and defend her interests all the time. It’s part of why the ACLJ exists. Let us not forget the bus bombing that took place just a couple of weeks ago. Terrorism has never really died for the PA.
Sec. Pompeo joined us on the broadcast today and offered his own analysis of the PA and its latest threat against Israel:
"I believe the Palestinian leadership is still living in a world where they believe that if they throw a temper tantrum – launch Molotov cocktails, run into the wall, conduct terror campaigns – that the Middle Eastern countries will come alongside them and support them. I think the Middle Eastern countries can see that they are not serious about delivering good outcomes for their own people, or the Arabs that live in the land that they control. And I think those days are behind them."
We would love it if that were true, but we dare not trust that the PA doesn’t have more menacing plans in store and we have to be vigilant. Today’s full Sekulow broadcast includes further in-depth analysis of these latest incendiary statements from Abbas and the PA, as well as more discussion with former Secretary of State and ACLJ Senior Counsel for Global Affairs, Mike Pompeo.
