The Facts Inside Our Reporter’s Notebook Georgia voters on Tuesday will decide the final Senate race of the 2022 midterms when they go the polls for either incumbent Democrat Sen. Raphael Warnock or GOP challenger Herschel Walker – in a contest so close the candidates were forced into a runoff race.
Democrats already have the majority in the 100-seat Senate – 50 compared to 49 for Republicans.
But Warnock being reelected would give them a 51-49 edge and no longer require going to Vice President Kamala Harris for the tie-breaker vote to pass legislation they support.
